The members had been close since the beginning. They had lived together as soon as they became a band, and have lived together since. They had become a big family in the 11 years they had been together. But as time went on Jungkook started to notice the members gravitate to others in the group, but less and less towards him. He realized that as they grew up everyone in the group had become super close with the members who shared ages. Without even meaning to or realizing it, Taehyung started spending the majority of his time with Jimin. They'd often go out together without inviting him or have movie nights in their room. Namjoon and Hobi were always together, doing anything and everything. They'd go to museums together and Hobi would take a ton of photos for Namjoon, or they'd spend time hiking or going running. Yoongi and Jin were always found together playing video games or thinking of something new to cook. Sometimes when they played games Jungkook would watch from the background, anytime he asked to play it was always the same answer, "It's only a two player game." He also tried to help them cook in the kitchen, sometimes they'd let him but a lot of times they'd tell him they were all set and he should go hang out.
He didn't know what had made things change. His members used to be almost overbearing with how much time they all wanted to spend with him. He knew he hadn't done anything wrong, it seemed as though the birthday buddies just naturally were pulled towards eachother.
He tried to hide his jealousy. He wished he had someone born the same year as him to hang out with, someone he could treat as an equal rather than a hyung. Taehyung and Jimin were only two years older than him, he wished that could have counted. After all, the three of them did make up the maknae line, Jungkook thought that had to count for something, being in some kind of unit with them.
He'd often ask to hang out with a pair of hyungs when they were together and a lot of times he was brushed off or ignored, as if he had never even asked.
It was beginning to make him frustrated and depressed, feeling like his hyungs didn't care about him the way they used to. He knew they cared about him still, or he at least hoped they did, but he missed when it was obvious simply by the way they acted. Now he was always having to try and convince himself.
They do care, Jungkook.
It was still affecting him though. He began to spend a lot of time alone at home as the others were usually busy in their little pairs. Jungkook tried to talk about it with them once, telling them he was feeling left out, but the members unanimously agreed that that wasn't the case and he was just being over-dramatic and paranoid. He decided there was no point ever bringing it up after that. Although he didn't talk about it to them anymore, his actions were beginning to coincide with how he really felt. Like his members didn't need or want him anymore.
What is the point?
At dance practice Hobi was going over steps, but Jungkook was distracted. Part of him didn't even care to learn. Mainly because like always, the birthday partners were placed as dance units.
"Well who am I supposed to dance with?" Jungkook asked Hobi after the dance leader was done telling the others who their partners would be.
"You'll be solo," Hobi told him.
"But I'm always solo. Why can't someone else be solo for once? How come I never get a dance buddy?"
"Jungkook-ah just listen to Hobi hyung," Taehyung yelled from next to Jimin. Everyone was already together practicing.
"Yes, what Tae said. Now here is what you need to do," Hobi tried showing Jungkook his solo choreography but Jungkook was too angry to repeat his hyung.
