Since it was the first day of summer break, Charlotte opened her eyes early this morning. She got out of bed, and headed down the mildly lighted hallway. She went downstairs hoping that she would be the first awake so she could have some peace before her sister Amelia woke up. She made her way to the kitchen and sitting at the counter was her sister. Charlotte sighs annoyed but greets her sister, "Good morning, Amelia" she says bluntly. "Morning!" Amelia replies energetically. Charlotte walks past Amelia and gets the cereal out of the cupboard, as she pours her cereal she hears her mother shuffling down the hallway. "Oh, mom's coming down," she says, Charlotte takes her cereal and sits at the counter with her sister. Their mother enters the room and brightly says "Good morning, my beautiful girls!" she walks over and kisses them both. Charlotte says "Morning mom!" and pulls out her phone. "Char, do you have anything planned for today?" her mother asks, "Um, as if right now, nope" Charlotte replies with a sigh and places her elbows on the counter. Amelia says annoyed "Why aren't you hanging out with your little boyfriend, Josh" Charlotte looks at Amelia with a blank stare, "Amelia!" their mother replies, "Stay out of Charlotte's business". "Fine" Amelia says annoyed, "I'm going to get ready! Kate and I are going bike riding this morning". Amelia leaves her mother and Charlotte in the kitchen together. Charlotte spends another 20 minutes talking to her mom downstairs before going to her room to FaceTime her boyfriend, Josh.
Charlotte takes out her phone and dials Josh's number. When Josh answers, she sees that he's still in bed and half asleep. She frantically says "I'm so sorry, babe!" he replies in a groggy voice "It's cool, but I'll call you later" Charlotte agrees and hangs up. She falls back on her bed and stares at the ceiling, "I wonder what Maya is doing" she thinks. After a few moments of contemplating if she should call her best friend or not, she finally decides to call her. Charlotte dials Maya's number and the phone starts ringing. "Hello?" Maya answers, "Good morning, bestie boo!" Maya laughs on the other end, "Good morning, girly!" Charlotte asks Maya if she wanted to go shopping. Maya says"Of course! I never turn down a good shopping spree!" Charlotte laughs and tells Maya that she'll pick her up in an hour. Maya agrees and the two hang up.
Charlotte walks to her closet and opens it. "What should I wear?" she thinks. She decides on a pink crop top, some white shorts, and her checkered vans. "The basic white girl move," she says to herself. After her outfit is picked out, she goes and hops in the shower to wash her hair before she picks Maya up. She gets out of the shower, brushes her teeth, dries her hair, straightens her hair, and gets dressed. She packs her mini backpack with necessary items like her charger, AirPods, house keys, and her phone. She heads down the hallway and into her parents' room, "Mom, I'm going to hang out with Maya!" her mom yells from the bathroom "Ok, sweetie! Be safe!". Charlotte tells Amelia goodbye, grabs her car keys, and heads out of the front door and straight to her car. Once she is in the car, she starts the engine, turns the AC on, texts Maya to let her know she's on the way, and drives off.
