"Christine? Hey, Christine!"
Sebastian was standing by the window slowly letting the sun in. Was it morning already? Didn't feel like it. I rolled over in my bed but kept my eyes closed.
"Christine! Wake up!"
No. I don't want to. Go away. WHY IS HE POKING ME?
"Oh, God, Sebastian... what are you, my mother?" I growled as he forced me to sit up. I wrapped myself into the blanket so he couldn't see me without my bra. "I hate you."
"Sure you do," he nodded unbothered. "Get up, we need to get going."
"Going where?"
"It's a surprise," he winked. I didn't smile a bit.
"Of course it is," I mumbled and then told him to go away so I could get ready.

After a delicious brunch (and a couple of mimosas) Sebastian took me to his mum's. God how I loved her! She was the most wholesome woman I've ever known.
I parted ways with both my parents quite early on and Georgeta (Georgie I called her) took care of me. She became friends with my dad when she and Sebastian first moved to New York. Georgie worked in the same office as my father for a little while and we bonded immediately when my folks invited her for dinner almost every Sunday.
Me and Sebastian never really got that close. I've always found him a bit annoying. But when I've moved from my parents' house he immediately insisted we rent a place together - he was quite shy and was terrified of making friends with someone new. I actually didn't mind if he were my roommate. It was more comfortable that way for me, too.
"...right, Christine?" Gerogie put her hand on my shoulder and laughed.
"Uhm, yeah. Sure," I nervously sipped my tea and pretended I was listening all along.
"You zoned out," Sebastian started laughing, too. That little snitch.
"Shut up."
"You shut up!"
"Sebastian!" his mum raised her voice a little. I couldn't help but giggle. It was so funny seeing a grown up man change completely once his mother got angry with him.
We had lunch and talked through the afternoon. Georgie even got me this beautiful cake! It felt like a crime eating it, someone definitely worked on that really hard. I was in a great mood, though. Those two were the closest people I had.

"What do you wanna do now?" Sebastian asked as we were walking back to our place.
"I thought you had plans," I shrugged. I honestly didn't care much what we were gonna do today. I mean, yeah, it was my birthday, but I kinda didn't have anyone else to spend it with, so I was grateful for literally anything.
"My plan was to go to my mum's," he frowned. I turned my head and rolled my eyes so he couldn't see. We've known eachother for years and he's not even capable of planning something I'd enjoy.
Could I blame him, though? I didn't go out much unless it was work related. My two girlfriends moved out of NY more than a year ago, so we mostly just FaceTimed. And I wasn't really interested in making new friends - I felt too old for that. Wow, that sounded ancient. I was only turning 21, you know.
Honestly, I didn't mind being on my own. I mean... with Sebastian."Let's open some wine," I suggested when we got home.

Sometimes Sebastian and I would just sit on a couch, drink casually and talk. It was so calming. And that's what we decided to do on my special day. Nothing was taboo. We talked and talked and when there was nothing left to talk about, we'd just sit in silence.
