Christmas Eve

Chapter one

"Jungkook and I are just going out, mum. Nothing's going to happen. We're literally just going out for a late night shop to get presents." Shannon assured her mother as she made her way out of the house. "Don't speak to me like that, Shannon! You're only sixteen, for goodness sake! I have a right to be worried!" Her mother yelled back at her from her place on the stairs. 'I don't like the idea of you and a young boy out alone!"

Shannon rolled her eyes before opening up the front door of the house. "I have to get presents for Chris, Mum. Remember, Christmas Day is tomorrow." She informed her mother before stepping out of the house. Her mother ran up behind her, still a little worried over the fact her only daughter was going out with a member of the male species, but knowing she couldn't do anything to stop the girl.

"Ok, just...Be safe." She sighed as she gave up on convincing the girl. Shannon nodded. "Don't worry mum, I will. I'm responsible." She assured the older woman, before heading off to Jungkook's house next door.

This would be their first 'official' date. It was just going to be them, alone, and not with her little brother Chris, who her mother always forced her to take as chaperone. Shannon was sixteen now, not legally an adult, but mentally she felt like she could already be eighteen.

Walking up to Jungkook's house, Shannon knocked firmly on the door. Within a few seconds of hearing light footsteps, the door was opened and Jungkook was there, dressed in a thick jacket and Levis for the cold winter weather. He smiled warmly at her before enveloping her in a warm hug. Pulling out of the hug, she looked up at him with stars in her eyes. "You ready to go?" She asked her boyfriend, butterflies fluttering in her stomach at the thought of going out with her first boyfriend.

"Yeah, I am, but are you sure you're not cold in just a shirt and jeans? You don't need a jacket?" He inquired sweetly, making Shannon blush at his loving gesture. She really was a noob at relationships. "No, no. I-I'm fine." She assured him. He shrugged to himself and closed the door. The two of them made their way down the driveway to Jungkook's red pickup truck.

Getting in, Jungkook asked, "So what are you planning on getting Chris?" Shannon shrugged as she jumped into the tall car. "I'm not sure yet. I was just thinking of browsing until I find something."

"Ok." Jungkook put the keys in the ignition and pushed the gear stick so the car was in first gear. As they were driving along awkwardly, Shannon spoke up to break the silence (A/N: BTS!!!!!) . "I'm glad Chris isn't here. He can be annoying at times." Jungkook shrugged as he gripped the steering wheel. "Yeah, I guess so, but he's not that bad. I'd prefer it just be the two of us, though." Shannon nodded in agreement. The rest of the ride was quiet as the two were quite shy by themselves, quite contrary to how loud and boisterous they could get with Chris.

When they made it to the mall, which was open till late since it was Christmas Eve, the two noticed there were very few cars around; odd for a Christmas Eve night when you'd expect people would be rushing around to get the rest of their presents. "Maybe everyone ordered online this year." Jungkook assumed jokingly. "Or all the shops are shut." Shannon added, but Jungkook shook his head. "Mum said most of the shops were open till 11pm today."

Unsurely, the two made their way into the large mall. Immediately upon entering, the two noticed the jingle bell's was song eerily echoing through the almost empty shop, a massive Christmas tree, almost the size of a crane, sat at the front entrance, decorated in cute red and green baubles, with a giant sparkling star on top.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh...

The two looked around for a bit and Shannon was relieved to find that most of the stores were open. "Let's go to the Toy World." Shannon suggested excitedly, pulling Jungkook's muscular forearm in the direction of the store. Jungkook chuckled at her cute enthusiasm. "One would think you want to buy yourself something, rather than getting something for Chris." He pointed out. "No, I'm just excited it's just you and me." She answered purely as she gripped his arm tighter. Jungkook's cheeks tinted pink but he turned his head away so she wouldn't see the blossoming colour. Shannon had been in fact Jungkook's first girlfriend as well, and the boy was just as excited as she was to start their newfound relationship; going on dates alone like adults do.

In the Toy world, Jungkook had pointed out several items he thought Shannon's eight year old brother would be interested in. Nerf guns, new lego, chess games. Shannon had turned each of them down and insisted that the boy was divulged in anything tech, and that toys they had grown up with as kids would bore the boy. Leaving the Toy world empty handed, Jungkook suggested the two of them go to the Tech store where Shannon could buy Chris a pair of new ear phones or something similar, to which Shannon told him he was "So 2010s".
