When you are eating breakfast in the morning, do you ever just stare out into space? If you need an example just look at me. I probably look constipated just looking at absolutely nothing. People do it when they are in a boring class, long car rides, and/or just sitting and eating. In my case it's all of the above. Mainly it's when i'm eating breakfast.
One hour until my new guardian walks through my front door. I have no idea what to expect. She could look really old for her age or really young for her age. Plus, it depends on how many kids she has had. See these are the types of things I need to know. Unfortunately, my parents gave me no such information.
To top everything off, how will my life be in the new town. I'm going to have to go to a new school where I may not make friends or maybe I could. A girl can dream. Maybe I could get a job at the local radio station. Again, a girl can dream.
Before the whole ordeal of moving to Ohio I was going to apply for a job at Z101 Radio station as an intern. Music is a major passion of mine. I eat, sleep, and breath music. When I am in my room not having anything to do I sit down with my iMac and mix songs together. For the past year I have contemplated on making a Youtube and posting my tracks online. Unfortunately I don't have that much confidence to share them.
Pushing all my thought to the back of my head, I get up to put my knife in the dishwasher. It may be weird, but I have an obsession with eating bagels topped with cream cheese. I know, it's really sad. There would be days that I would have two a day but they are minis so it's okay... Yeah I need help.
So far all of my stuff is packed and by the front door. There isn't a lot of stuff to be honest just some clothes, school supplies, toiletries, dance clothes, and my electronic stuff. I don't have one of those fancy things called smartphones, I have a iMac, ipod, and video camera. In my house you are not allowed to have a smartphone or any phone until you are 18. Unfortunately for me i'm only 15. So 3 more years and I will be 'cool'. (as most people at my school would say when they have a smartphone)
Half hour away from meeting "Beth" and my stomach is in knots. Pacing back and forth, breathing really hard. How can someone be so nervous? I should be happy that I get a fresh and new beginning.... But I'm not. I'm nervous as heck and I just want to stop my mini panic attack. With sweat in my palms and on my forehead, I just breath in and out. In and out. In and out...
DING DONG
"Oh my god, she is here," my anxiety is just out of control. Just breath Dylan. You have to get used to the fact that she will practically be your mother figure for the next year so get used to it. Now, get up you ding dong and get the door. (😂😂 OMG stupid things like this crack me up. Ik I'm weird! What are you going to do about it?!!)
Finally after fighting with myself for a minute, I make it to the front door. Gripping the metal door handle and slowly turning it makes my insides twist. I open the door that's between me and the women who will be like a temporary mother like figure towards me for the next year. I hope she is nicer than my own mother, most likely will.
BAM!!
She is beautiful!! Oh my god like a freakin model. How old is this women?! She has long blond hair that goes down to her mid back. Makeup is flawless, nails polished perfectly, curves of a young model from Victoria's Secret, and she had blue eyes that pop like crazy.
My parents are friends with her?
"Hi, I'm Beth! You must be Dylan. Wow! It is amazing to finally meet you. You are so beautiful! Has anyone ever told you that?" She smiled like it was her job. I like her already.
" Hi, um, I don't think so," I seriously don't think anyone has, "But thank you. Come on in."
I moved out of the way and let her walk into the house. Not realizing it, but my parents must have shipped most of their stuff to London. All the little things like pictures, paintings, and other little decorations were gone. So pretty much the place is almost empty.
"Can I get you anything to drink?" I didn't look back at her hoping she followed me into the kitchen. "We don't have much just some water, coffee, and a little bit of iced tea left."
Grabbing myself a water I looked back at her to see if she really wanted anything, but I find her staring at the white square on the wall where our old family photo hung. That was when my parents talked to me and cared about me. That was when we were a real family. All up until...
Not now. We are not going to break down now.
"Um, no thank you," she paused for a moment, "Is there supposed to be a picture here?" she asked looking at me with a confused domener,
"Umm.. Yes there is but it fell one day and the frame broke. We never got around to reframing the picture."
"Oh okay," Please change the subject! Please change the subject!
"So, are you excited to be moving to Ohio? I know it's not as extravagant as London, but it's a pretty great place." Thank god she changed the subject. As much as I would have loved to live in London, I like the fact that i'm moving and it's not with my parents.
"To be honest i'm kinda excited. I have never traveled outside of the state in years. We haven't really gone on a real vacation in a really long time. I will miss a couple things here but I will not miss this bipolar weather." I say to her. The weather out here in Colorado is crazy. One day its all nice and sunny, then the next day the ground is covered in 3 feet of snow. If we're lucky.
"Well that's great! You are going to love it out there," she looked down at her rose gold watch to check the time, "Its getting pretty late. We should probably get your stuff in the cab and head to the airport. I can tell you all what you are up against on the plane ride there. Plus, be ready to lose 3 hours of your day. We are 3 hours infront of you guys out here."
I just smile and nod. This is going to be crazy. I'm losing 3 hours of my day and my sleeping schedule will be off. I love my sleep. Whenever I get the chance I either read, listen to music, or sleep. Sleep is my number 1 choice almost every single time.
We grabbed all of my luggage by the stairs and head outside. After we put everything in the trunk of the cab we got in back.
"Alright let's get this show on the road." Beth exclaimed. We started to pull out of the driveway and head to the airport, "Goodbye Colorado!"
