What Does Space Taste Like? - BFB 20: A Taste of Space

When we were on the cardboard spaceship again after so long, I was super excited for the trip! Last time I was in space was all the way back in BFDI 20! And that was like, what, ten years ago? Saying that makes me feel old.

I look over to Ruby and Gelatin, to see Gelatin.. attempting to lick one of the windows? I have to admit, I admired their dedication, even though it was a pretty strange sight. "How are we able to breathe in outer space if there's these open windows?" Ruby asked Gelatin as he ran over. "Hm.. Good point, Ruby! I don't know how were able to breathe when these are open!" Gelatin thought out loud. "You know what? I've always wondered what outer space tasted like!" He got up close to the window and he tried to lick outer space, not thinking that there was a plastic wrap on the windows so we didn't all die. "It's covered by plastic wrap, Ruby" He eventually realized after a moment of licking the wrap, attempting to taste the world outside of the ship. "Oh! Well, that's a relief!" Ruby sighed, satisfied with the answer to her question. "Man, I really wanted to know what space tasted like, though! I didn't really want to lick plastic, it tasted pretty bad." Said Gelatin, obviously upset with the taste he received during his experiment.

I ignored them and tried to hopefully spark a conversation with someone else on the cardboard ship. "Woah! It's so cool we can be in space again, right, guys?" "It's just as breathtaking as I remember it!" I said to myself, until Lollipop interrupted me. "NOT very breathtaking." She said. I had a quick feeling of annoyance spread through me when she said that, "Gah! Why would you say that, Lolli?!" I blurted, without thinking. "I said it because last time you were in space, you got obliterated by a laser." - - "Not true!" This time, it was me interrupting her.

Lollipop whipped out a tablet showing me in space, infact getting obliterated, whilst in a ship by Spongy. Part of me didn't want to admit that I was wrong, but I still had to do it eventually. "O-Okay, so maybe I DID get obliterated by a laser! But--getting obliterated by a laser isn't even THAT bad!" I lied. "Really?" Lollipop said as she dragged out the 'e' in 'really'. She grabbed the tablet again, this time the screen was red and said "PRESS X TO DOUBT." The tablet beeped when she pressed the X. "Yeah, it's actually surprisingly comfortable! -- Let me show you..!" I said as I reached for a button and aimed it at Lollipop, it obliterated her when I shot it, leaving her no time to react. The tablet fell to the ground as the arms who were previously holding it disintegrated into thin air. "See? Doesn't that feel nice!~" I snickered.

"I got it!" Said Gelatin as he ran past me and bent down, picking up the fork that sat beside me. He popped the plastic wrapped window and stuck his tongue through the new opening, tasting space. "Mmm! Tastes other worldly!" He said, enjoying the flavor. "Um.. Gelatin! You'd better keep your tongue there..!" Ruby warned, hoping he would follow through with her instructions and keep the remaining air in the ship. Gelatin retracted his tongue from the puncture in the plastic and asked Ruby, "What did you say?" Air was being sucked into space and Ruby started to hold her breath.

"There's... no.... AIR!.." Ruby struggled to say without losing oxygen. "I'm not gonna last much longer!" Bubble warned. "Quick! Leafy! Download more air!" Suddenly I'd remembered the tablet Lollipop had left behind when she was obliterated by the laser. I turned to it quickly and typed in "MORE AIR" on the App Store it had. I'm sure Lollipop could go without the $0.99, anything to save my team's lives! I hit purchase and was shocked by how long it said it would take to download.

Bubble, Gelatin, and Ruby showed signs of struggling to breathe, everyone but Teardrop was struggling to contain air for so long, it was like she didn't react at all, judging by the bored look on her face. Even I was struggling to breathe with the new large opening addition to the windows. The app was finally done downloading, I rushed to the tablet to receive the air.

"You've been hacked!" Says Four,  through the tablet. Well, this is unfortunate. "Ughhf-- What now!?" I said, clearly irritated with Four. "You Have Cots team lost last time, so whichever one of you got the fewest votes will BRB -- In this first-ever Cake at Stake over video call, I'll give contestants air to breathe when they're declared safe." They said happily. Bubble gasped for air when she was labeled safe, and Teardrop showed no reaction to receiving air, unlike me, I couldn't be more grateful to have air again. Four recovered Lolli and she was also declared safe, and was shoved back into space through the tablet. She didn't look happy to see me. "How was it, Lolli? Wasn't it cozy?" I asked her, trying to lift her mood. "If you call excruciating and severe pain 'cozy', then yes, it was."  She answered.

"It's alliance member duty to give other members air!" Bubble said as she rushed over to Ruby, she grabbed a straw and blew Ruby air to breathe. "Care to give me some air? No straw needed~" Lollipop asked Bubble. "LOLLI!-" Bubble said, slapping Lollipop due to the shock caused by Lollipop's inappropriate remark. I then realized it was down to Gelatin and Ruby now, I didn't want either of them to leave, but there's nothing I could do to prevent it. Gelatin was given air as he was declared safe, meaning that Ruby was eliminated. Four reached into the camera and grabbed Ruby, grabbing her by the hand and dragging her out of the camera, back onto Earth. "PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE, can I stay in the game, please, please!?" She begged Four, pleading to continue competing. "No." Four responded quickly and simply, snapping his fingers and sending Ruby into the BRB.
