To Be Ugly - ORIGINAL POEM

I wish to protect, I wish to hide from the day,
But here I stand in the sunlight,
Fearing any second I'll burn away,
I walk and take it one step at a time,
All while my mind lingers and thinks back,
Back to moments here I'll immortalise in rhyme,
So others can see how much better I am,
Even when I find it difficult to get out of bed,
I can see the light and know I do all I can,
Can to push past my troubles and scream,
Scream for peace and a pause on hurtful actions,
With enough courage to say no, to be ugly, to be mean,
Then here you come, I still wondered what was,
What was the catalyst to our downfall back then,
Always focusing on what I don't have, all I have lost,
I can only hope to push past this feeling,
This feeling of needing to be loved always,
And to be ugly and hated with comfort and meaning.
