THE KING AND THE FERRETS

     Long, long ago in the Templeton's castle, there lived a king called king Templeton. King Templeton ruled over the Templeton's castle with his son - Thomas and his three(3) young and beautiful daughters - Annabelle, Lily and Josephine.

     Lord Templeton was the kind of ruler who wanted the best of everything not caring about other people even his own children.

Lord Templeton was also the kind of ruler who loved hunting as it was part of the kingdom's traditions. Lord Templeton was best at hunting animals,using his wild and ferocious ferrets - Crusher and Destroyer ( very weird and scary names right?) to hunt for rabbits and other small animals.
      Lord Templeton announced the news for the hunt. People from different parts of the world came with either ferrets or weapons, just because of the reward of winning.
     On a monday morning, Lord templeton was dressed in his kingly robe. Lord templeton was busy looking at the large crowd with a serious face. Then suddenly his most trusted butler named Harry came into the tower and said, "Your lordship,thousands of people from all over the world have shown up for this competition". Then he stoped and added, " why did his lordship chose to announce this competition to the world?". Lord Templeton looked at his own two feet and looked at the large crowd of people and said to Harry, " To prove that I am the best". "If I may ask what is the reward?" said Harry. " Something special",said lord Templeton, walking away with a smile. "Yes sire", said butler Harry, as he bowed.
The king was prepared, for the day had come, to go and see how his two(2) ferrets were doing in the kingdom farm, which was a special place for them which they were treated and cared for.
When they reached the king's farm ( or Templeton's farm as the king had named it). A short and chubby man who was dressed in filthy clothes, who claimed to be farmer came out and greeted the king but the king ignored him and went into the barn in a hurry. Butler harry apologized for the king's behaviour. " No need to apologize, that's how rich people behave nowadays", said the farmer, as both men went inside the barn.
      So there they were, huge,ferocious and ugly looking ferrets, one could see how they were drooling, they were chained to a huge rock.Lord Templeton sent butler Harry to go and fetch the ferrets, afraid as butler Harry was, but still insisted to obey the king's orders. Butler Harry was almost beaten by crusher but was pulled out of the way by the farmer.The butler Harry was still in shock and fear,that he kept quiet behind the farmer like a little girl hiding at the back of her father. " Some pussycat you are", said Lord Templeton to butler Harry. It was because of this situation, that the farmer decided to help them with the ferrets.
The time had reached for the competition, everymen and women armed with either ferrets or weapon( but mostly ferrets, just think who would want to run back and forth using a weapon). All participants were alined vertically, with a red lined drawn in front of all the participants, which one should not cross untill he or she or the ferrets was permitted to do so.
" Are you ready, everyone", said butler Harry, who was hosting the competition. Butler harry repeated himself again, but this time ended with a "Go". Both men and ferrets raced into the bushes in hunt of small animals.The time given was thirty(30) minutes and nothing more. Each ferrets raced back with rabbits while some men and women, who held spears and arrows, bows or shot guns came out of the bush with a rabbit or hare.
     Poor Lord Templeton, he was devastated and this was because his ferrets were fat and slow that even a snail, could out run them. Lord templeton felt ashamed of himself. At this rate he knew he was going to loose. Lord templeton was so angry that he unleashed his anger on the farmer.
      Ten(10) minutes had passed from thirty minutes, then suddenly a young lad who claimed to called himself John, pleaded to participate in the competition and apologized for his lateness. Seeing how sincere and honest the young lad was, they were all moved and thought that the king should allow him to join the contest.
John was very thankful to the king that he allowed him to join the contest. John untied his sack and two little ferrets the size of a newly born kitten came out (surprising).They behaved gentle and also looked innocent.
      Everyone was shocked to see what came out of the sack, some even laughed. " Hey kiddo, you better bring on you're 'A' game on, not your 'F' game", said Lord, Templeton with a smile. John felt insulted and humiliated but kept a happy face.
Although, John's ferrets where small they were as fast as the wind and a cheetah combined, they brought back five rabbits and other small animals. Everyone was shocked, some could not even believe their eyes. "It's just like magic" said butler Harry. "You fool there is no such thing as magic", said lord Templeton to butler Harry.
The game was over and John was declared the winner of that year's competition for capturing twenty (20) rabbits. John went straight to the castle for his reward not knowing that the king had another thing in mind. John was escorted to the castle by a young maid. John was amused to see that the castle had a lovely decorations, and chandeliers hung to the ceiling. John was more shocked to see that the king was already there before him. John greeted his majesty and said, "your majesty, please permit me to ask you a question?". lord Templeton agreed with a nod. "How did you arrive to the palace so quickly?" "We used the secret back door", said butler Harry. Lord Templeton gave butler Harry a kick with his left leg and the said, "I'll deal with you later". Lord Templeton, looked at John and said, "A magician never reveals his secret".
"Your majesty, I am where for my reward", said John. "Oh! That! How about I double the reward if, you give me your ferrets", said lord Templeton to John with a devilish smile. "Oh! On sire, those ferrets cannot be controlled by anyone except me, they may look cute but they are quiet dangerous, in facts they are a living weapon", said John with a serious face. "The more dangerous you speak of them, the more I went them. Well, since the reward is fifty gold bar, how about I double the reward for you by a hundred", said lord Templeton. After a long hour of discussing, lord Templeton was convinced by butler Harry to give John his reward, in order not to put in a bad name for himself.
"Playing hard to get, eh!", said lord Templeton. Lord Templeton ordered the guards to bring the reward for john. The reward was packed in a wooden box. John gladly thanked his majesty and carried his reward, not knowing that lord Templeton had planned something vicious against him.
John was being followed by lord Templeton personal guard secretly, to learn and know more about John. When John reached his house which was made up of wood, fired clay, and dried grass. John had a grandmother who was blind and always led on the bed, she had a gray colored hair and always wore brown dirty and worn out clothes. "Granny, I've won the game, finally I can fix your eye problem", said John. "Do not worry about me little one", said John's grandmother.
Unknown to John and his grandmother, lord Templeton personal body guard, Samson, was spying on them to gain information to give to the king. Samson also got his information from next door neighbors and nearby shop owners.
When Samson reached the palace, he told the king all that he had heard about John; that his parent died when he was twelve in a ship that capsized into the ocean and he has no other relatives and his has lived with his grandmother ever since. One would believe that lord Templeton would feel sympathy towards John, but he didn't.
"I want juicy news not some sad family cry story", said lord Templeton in anger. "My lord that is all I could get from nearby neighbors and friends. Sire, May I ask what you want to do with that young lad", said Samson. Lord Templeton said with an angered face, "I said, I want his ferrets, you numb skull".
Earlier, Lord Templeton had placed a gigantic peal in the box of gold bar. Guards were sent to retrieve John for punishment at lord Templeton palace. With Samson leading them, they barged into John's house and began to search for the box of gold bar, when they found it they removed the pearl and they arrested poor innocent John who was sitting on the chair.
Poor John, he was taken as a prisoner in the Templeton prison. John's grandmother was worried sick about how her only family member. Lord Templeton finally had what he wanted- the ferrets. Lord Templeton, even made Crusher and Destroyer wrestle against John's ferrets. After long hours of shouting from the audience, and growling of the ferrets, John's ferrets won.
While John was in the Templeton prison, he told one of the prison guards to tell the king not to feed his ferrets meats or they'll go crazy. But none of the prison guards listened. One of the guards said, "So what if something bad happened to the king, it's none of our business, he does not even treat us well".
Lord Templeton kept his two new ferrets in his room because of the lack of trust of his own servants. When it's was time to feed his two new ferrets, he gave them fresh, raw meat for supper. Prudent and Savage started behaving weird and vicious. Prudent and savage became gigantic with humongous teeth (so scary).
Lord Templeton was in shock, when he reached for the exit door, he was blocked by prudent and savage. The meat had made the ferrets go crazy, they ate lord Templeton, leaving nothing but bits of bones and flesh. The first person that knew about this was butler Harry, who immediately spread the news.
As for John, he escaped out of the prison as a result of the carelessness of the prison guards and took his grandmother to go and start anew in another country.
Poor lord Templeton, he didn't even get to use his new ferrets- Prudent and Savage, for next year's competition. The kingdom was ruled by his son- Thomas Templeton, who was a good ruler.
