first chapter, woo! starting off with a small authors note(feel free to skip if you want), i haven't written fanfics in over a year and haven't watched much haikyuu either but i can't get them out of my head 😭 especially ushijima and tendou. i also feel like there is a huge lack of poly haikyuu fanfics(that aren't lemons) so i wanted to write one that's hopefully a long, well put together story. i hope you enjoy!

~~~Going to a new school is scary. Really scary. Especially when it's in a new country, far far away from everything and everyone you know. That just so happens to be the situation that you're finding yourself in right now, as you are getting ready for your first day at Shiritorizawa. A school which has absolutely nobody whom you know.
Well, saying that you know nobody would be an exaggeration. Your mom has an old friend who apparently had a son who goes to this school, which is why she was so adamant on you attending this prestigious highschool. "Come on, It'll be fine! You practically already have a friend." she said.
Despite her reassurance, you couldn't seem to stop worrying about your first day. You were never particularly outgoing and always found yourself in awkward situations thanks to your clumsiness. Back home you only had 2 real friends, and that's only because you were friends since they were babies. How were you going to make friends in this new environment? You worried all throughout the morning as she put your makeup and clothes on and started your walk to school.
Arriving at the school, you looked up in awe at the massive campus. When I say massive, i mean massive. How were you ever going to find your mom's friend here, with all of these students walking around?
Let's see, she said his last name was Ushijima. He's apparently fairly popular among his peers and is captain of the volleyball club. That was all of the information that your mother had given you but let's face it, it's better than nothing. You took your first step on campus and entered the main building, determined to work up the courage to ask someone about this Ushijima guy.
Though it turns out working up the courage to talk to people is harder than it sounds. At first you tried to ask passing students about Ushijima's whereabouts but to no avail. Most of them walked right past you or even pushed you out of the way, probably thanks to your nervous stuttering. You then tried to locate the faculty office to ask for the location of the volleyball club, but the building was too big and you couldn't even find it.
'Great,' you thought, 'I'm never gonna find him. This sucks, i miss home.' You continued to walk through the hallways with your head hung low, now changing your objective to finding your first period class so you wouldn't be late. Suddenly, you ran into a wall and stumbled backwards a few steps before realizing it was a person, not a wall.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I'm so clumsy and it was a mistake, I swear! I really didn't mean to bump into you..." you continued your excessive apology until you looked up and locked eyes with the man you ran into. He was tall and slender, with fiery red hair that stuck up in a rather funny way. You stopped talking as you looked at him until she realized you were ogling him, looking away quickly.
"Get a good look?" He chuckled, putting one hand on his hip and looking at you up and down. "You're all good, don't worry. You look pretty lost, do you need some help? I know this place pretty well if I do say so myself!"
You looked back at him and saw that he was smiling what appeared to be a genuine smile. He wasn't mad or anything! As a wave of relief washed over you, you spoke up again. "Oh yes that would be great. I need to find my way to class 2b... oh! and also, I'm looking for a guy named Ushijima, do you know him?"
Unexpectedly, he looked at you for a moment before raising his head up and letting out a big laugh. "Of course I know him, everyone does! He's probably the most popular guy in school, (though he doesn't really know it). Plus, I'm his best friend in the whole world! Of course that means it's my duty to protect him so I gotta ask, why are you looking for him? You don't look like one of his fangirls,,, you actually don't look like you're from around here at all!"
Stuttering a bit before answering, you said "Y-yeah, I'm a transfer student from America. My mom is friends with his dad so she wanted me to find him and get to know him cause she knows i'm not all that good at making friends.." you blushed a bit at that last part, silently scolding yourself for including the part about not being good at making friends.
"You don't seem all that bad at making friends. I mean look, you already bumped into me! It's like destiny, it's how the characters meet in all of my mangas." The red haired guy said. He suddenly got a sly look on his face as he said, "Okay, I'll take you to Ushijima on one condition."
"What condition?" you asked, not sure what it could possibly be. His next sentence completely took you off guard.
"Join our team as our manager! We've been needing one and I bet you'd be perfect for the job." He shouted, loud enough for other people in the hallway to stop and stare for a second before continuing on. It appeared as though they were mostly used to his antics.
"Uhh.. that's fine with me?" you hesitantly said, unsure of what you were really getting yourself into.
"Yayyyy!! I'm so excited, follow me! We have morning practices so the whole team will be in the gym right now." Tendou said as he grabbed your hand and started speed walking towards the gym. You blushed a little at the contact and wondered if this was in fact destiny, like he said.
