I close my eyes tightly as I prepare to meet the end of my life. This wolf might be celebrating spotting the Alpha's weak daughter. Maybe he could be disappointed because it did not take him too much effort to end me. Wow! Even to my enemies, I'm a disappointment.

Except that it didn't come. I only felt a rush of wind coming from behind me and heard a very loud growl. I dared not to open my eyes as the sounds I'm hearing is enough to tell me that what's happening before me right now is bloody and not something I want to see.

It then went silent, but I still could not open my eyes, fearing to see a bloody wolf before me, or worse, a decapitated human.

The wolf that came to save me just in time approaches me and I smell a very familiar scent that sent shivers to my whole body.

"You're safe now. Open your eyes." I hear Hunter say.

"No." I say with a shaky voice as I keep my eyes close.

"Oh? You're scared to see-" I cut him off.

"Stop!" I shouted then I hear bones cracking as he shifted in front of me.

I hear twigs breaking as he steps towards me and take me into a hug. My tears suddenly dried as when I realised that he's naked. And despite the cold night, his arms are warm. Heat is emanating from his body as if he was just standing under the sun.

"Your pack was under attack. Your brother called to tell me that you could be here."

What? They were attacked? And even at that moment, he had to think about his sister who cannot defend herself.

You're so pathetic Lyca. Your brother was supposed to protect your territory but had to even think about you because you selfishly ran away from home!

I started wailing in humiliation and frustration as I bury myself even more into Aries' muscular chest. Even his heavenly scent cannot take the disappointment that I am feeling.

"Shhh..." Aries hushes me as he brushes my hair.

"I hate myself." I whisper.

"Don't say that." He commanded, but with a very soft and tender voice.

"I could've helped them. He should have just worried about other things, but he had to even call you to help me. It should have not been that way." I say in between my sobs as he patiently listens to my pathetic cry. "I can't even fight to save my life."

He suddenly lifted me, carrying me in bridal style. My eyes are still wet from crying, but my tears cannot stop me from staring at him. Since he is carrying me, I can clearly see his chiselled jawline under the moonlight. He looked down at me, giving me a better view at his luscious lips. Gosh, I want to kiss those lips.

I gulped at the thought of our lips touching as his eyes never left mine. My heart started pacing faster than normal. If I didn't know what this is, I would have thought that I have heart problems.

When he settled at the bottom of the tree, he stared deep into my eyes before cupping my face, while I sit on lap.

"You are not weak. Believe me." He whispered and kissed the top of my head and hugged me tight. It just sent shivers all over my system. I feel my heart jumping and beating even faster than earlier.

My heart melted with his words. Tears falling, not for sadness for genuine happiness of the words that I heard. Yes, my parents' words mattered, my brother's words mattered, but hearing those words coming out of Aries's lips gives a different meaning, different effect to me.

"If I'm in your pack, will you banish me?" I asked him in a very soft voice, scared that he may say yes.

"No. I will never." He answered while brushing my hair, with his long fingers, his other hand, resting on top of my legs.

Are we really in this kind of position? Like really? Me? Sitting on his lap, and leaning on his muscular chest with his hand around me? The very lap that almost all girls in my school has already sat on?

And did I really just imagine kissing those very lips that kissed every possible lips it could kiss? And not to mention, he's bloody naked!

We remained in that position until exhaustion takes over my body. I do not know how long I slept in his arms, but it felt good.

I was awakened by my parents and brother's voice. I can still his warm hands around me as I float in the air.

Nope. I'm not floating. He's carrying me in his arms! I hear my parents as they approach and thank Aries for bringing me home.

This is definitely not the right time to wake up. I don't want to open my eyes and be in an awkward situation, with me, waking up in his arms. I hope no one notices because I felt my cheeks burning.

I was taken from his arms and ended up on someone else's arms. I cussed. It's my brother. I know his scent. And even with eyes closed, I can feel him glaring at me. He will surely not give me the end of this.

"I'll take her to her room." I hear my brother tell them as he walked away from them. As we reach the end of the stairs of the packhouse, I hear my brother speak.

"You know, you can never lie to me. That includes fake sleeping." He hissed.

I opened my eyes. As soon as my eyes met his, I jumped from his arms and ran to my room.

I locked my door when I realised something important.

I slowly opened my bedroom door and peeked through the small gap and find him still standing in the middle of the hallway, staring at me.

"What happened with the pack?" I asked him with sadness.

I prepared myself to be met with the news of some pack members getting killed in the attack but thankfully, the patrols were quick enough to spot the rogues and managed to take them down before they can reach the pack house. No member of the Suncrest Pack was killed, but seven rogues, including the one that Aries saved me from, were taken down and killed by our pack. Eleven more rogues were captured and taken to the dungeons where they will be kept as prisoners and until they stand for trial before the Werewolf council.

I went to sleep after having a conversation with my brother regarding the attack. The moment he mentioned he mentioned Aries, I closed the door on his face.
