MATEO
I woke up to the sound of my father starting his car engine. He is about to go on his way to the council to report about the rogue attack that happened last night. Thankfully, we did not lose a single member. All thanks to the effort and efficiency of our patrol teams.
I opened the door of my bedroom, and at the same time, Aries opens his door, just across my room. It was already past midnight when he came back, naked, with my sister in his arms, that is why my parents insisted that he stays for the night.
I lifted my head as I stare at him.
"What?" he asked, confused.
"You and my sister, what happened last night?" I seriously asked. He shakes his head, smiling.
"I don't like that smile." I inform him.
"Dude, nothing happened. I rescued her, she cried, I comforted her, she fell asleep, and I took her home." He states and starts walking towards the kitchen.
I know that my sister has started crushing on him a few years ago when she chose his training group over mine. She said that she chose him since I already trained her since she was young and wanted to experience being trained by someone from another pack.
Except that I did not believe her. I know my sister more than anyone else. I know when she's lying.
"The way you look at Aries is different from the way you look at other guys." I told her when I confronted her about it.
"He's a future Alpha! What do you expect?" she answers trying to avoid the question.
"So is Charlie." She froze and bit her lips, avoiding my gaze.
"There's a lot of girls lining up for Aries, you really want to be one of them?" I asked her.
"No!" there was a hint of pain in her eyes because of the words that I said. "I- I like him but it doesn't mean I will act on it."
That was the promise she told me that day. But the more she gets closer to him, the harder it is for her to hide her true feelings.
If I only had other options last night, I would have sent someone else to go and check on her. I just happened to be waiting for him to answer my call when I called him about the training program when we were informed about the rogues. So instead of talking about the training program, I asked him to look for my sister since I knew she'd be down by the lake, in the middle of our packs.
"Is your sister not going to eat?" Aries asked when he realised that Lyca has still not gotten up from her sleep. Sitting beside him is Charlie who came right away after hearing about the attack last night.
"I guess not." I answer him. I normally send Dolores to call Lyca for breakfast, but because Aries is here, I try to keep them away from each other, as much as I could.
I know Aries is a good person. He is a very ideal brother-in-law. Everything is good about him. He is kind, just and always looks out after his people. He is also a man of his words. The only thing that I hate about him is the fact that he changes his woman as often as he changes his underwear. And that is not an overstatement.
He is seen with a different girl every day, making out with him, in campus or in their packhouse. The only girls he never messed with are those that have not met their mates, or his pack members. And Lyca had to see that every day. Him with a girl on his lap, devouring his face, and him to her.
It is possible that what my sister feels for him is a simple crush or puppy love, but I don't want her to fall deeper than where she is now.
"Is your sister not yet awake?" our mother asks me as she enters the kitchen and greets us good morning.
