It all started on one fresh morning. The day started out great for Katherine, an 18 year old teen. She was running through the town, on her way to the Magic Department Office.
Her shoulder length blonde hair swaying through the wind as she ran, trying her best not to bump into any people as she was carrying a bunch of paperwork and items that she needed for this day, all crumpled in a case.
She slowed her pace when she started to see a run down building by the corner, blending in with the town as it was surrounded by numerous buildings that were styled the same way as it was.
It was going to be her first time being inside there as she was going to get interviewed for a certain job. It had always been her dream to enter the building when she was a child, her father used to tell her that a kid like her couldn't enter it as it was only for people with high magic, great abilities and intelligence.
She was still young as she couldn't understand what her father meant, but she slowly understood on her way to adulthood.
From that point on, she started to study about magic, the history of it, increasing her fighting abilities and knowledge as well as practicing on controlling magic, but no avail as she barely have enough in her.
After all, people with magic are mostly considered as beings that were blessed with God's heavenly strength as they were quite rare, giving them powers that people could've dream of.
She fiddled with her uniform before knocking the door. She smoothed her jeans and fixed her tie in a near vehicle mirror, getting honked at as she didn't notice a presence inside.
She quickly apologised, grabbing her luggage and resumed on preparing for the interview. She knocked on the door three times, waiting patiently as she looked at her watch.
She was 4 minutes early than the time they had agreed on. She snapped out of her daze as she heard heavy footsteps behind the thick door, hearing murmurs as the sound of the door unlock made her more nervous.
Her best friend, Charlie, used to explain how the interview went on for her. It was terrible, is what she said, but passed luckily. She fumbled with her fingers, eyes darting on the door and her black shoes, shining a mysterious glint she couldn't muster.
Finally noticing that the door was opened half way, her chocolate brown eyes were greeted with a pair of emerald ones. She inspected the person as she noticed a figure behind them.
He had a tall build with a tanned skin, freckles were scattered on their face like stars. He also had jet black hair, it looked fluffy, she guessed it was really kept well.
"Why hello there, may I ask on what you are perhaps doing here?" the figure said, asking politely as he offered a smile that could brighten your day.
"O-oh, my name is Katherine, I'm here for the staff interview." she muttered quietly, but loud enough for the person in front of her to hear.
She saw a look of surprise on his face. She assumed that he was not informed on this new revelation as she slightly shivering to the cold air between them. She lowered her head as her cap darkened her face.
"The headmaster hadn't told me we had a newbie, let me go ask him." he said as his tone slightly changed, she couldn't ponder what it was as she watched the two in front of her converse quietly.
It was too fast for her eye as the raven haired person suddenly disappeared, surprising her all of a sudden. It was probably magic, but she noticed the other figure standing there, their gaze laying on her posture.
The person in front of her was a woman, she noted. She had a long burgundy hair reaching her curvy waist. Milky white skin, but she noticed a nasty scar on her forehead, ruining the look. It looked like a burn.
She slightly stiffened when the woman in front of her hissed, she must've noticed that she was scanning her until her eyes stopped on her face, shocked seen on her face.
Katherine didn't notice she was already inside the building, her eyes filled with amazement as she looked around the area, the woman in front of her slightly smirked in the corner of her vision.
She had glasses on, slightly turning it upright. She straightened her back and looked her directly in the eye, her eyes narrowing at Katherine. They both exchanged glances until she finally introduced herself.
"Name is Jennica, Jennica Millerstone, pleasure meeting you." Jennica said before grabbing the hem of her skirt and bowing in a stylish way, one that she couldn't imitate. She recognized her family name, it was something that every person in the town knew.
When she finally finished, she looked at Katherine with questioning eyes. She realised that Jennica didn't hear her introduction earlier nor conversation between the other man. "A-ah.. My name is Katherine-." she said before she got cutted off by a poof of smoke between them.
The person earlier returned with a gentleman towering behind him, she assumed it was the headmaster. But it wasn't as what she had expected when he introduced himself.
The newly arrived person had curly turquoise hair that had matching eyes as well. He was taller than the raven haired by a few inches. He had a brown top hat with goggles on it, matching his outfit.
"Oh, Katherine, this is the Chief of Staff, Glenn Hounderson, the headmaster isn't currently available is what he told me." he said, offering a bright smile to me in which I returned.
'It appears this is the person I will be working under, if only I passed', I thought before I felt a my hand being grabbed by a gloved one shaking each other.
"Good day meeting you, madam." Glenn stated, his gruff voice matching his poker face. The surroundings changed before I could react, realising that we already teleported without warning.
I felt a wave of nausea crashed over me, it was my first time transporting via magic. It was a well expected reaction of mine until I dropped to the floor on my knees.
I felt dizzy, but it soon got washed over as I felt a gaze or two pierce through me. I let go of my case as I looked up, noticing Glenn wasn't beside me, but beside a presence so great that even an animal would cower in fear after sensing it.
"So, Katherine, shall we begin the interview?" I heard the person in front of me speak. His brown curls covering his eyes, making the temperature drop and made a much intimidating aura, his lips curving upright.
I scanned the desk, not seeing a name but seeing a title. Headmaster, it said. I realised a second late, standing up with haste and bowing, my messy unkept hair falling to my sides.
I was shaking from nervousness as I slowly returned to my straight posture, looking up and gazing at the duo in front of me, both were smiling at me as I started and saluted.
"Yes, headmaster!"
