"Nat!"
Guess Yukiko wasn't kidding.
I faced at her direction. My bored eyes examining her figure. Her outfit was wore the same as yesterday, messy and dirty. Her hair was tied in a ponytail this time, showing off her perfectly round face.
She panted as she stopped in front of me.
"Hey! Guess what?"
I ignored and just stared at her, uninterested.
Yukiko took a sit facing me. I was sitting in one of the school's canteen's provided table, as usual, eating my ordered steak.
Yukiko grinned. "I got elected as class captain! Just got here and I was elected! I mean, of course I'm happy!"
I almost choked. Class captain? In a few weeks?
Yukiko blinked as she stared at me. Then she giggled, showing her spotless teeth.
"Yup!"
I must have said that outloud.
"I said that outloud didn't I?" I muttered staring back at my food with a frown.
Yukiko rested her chin on her right hand. "Yeah, you finally talked."
I sighed.
There was an awkward silence. I kept eating my oh-so-delicious steak while Yukiko was, looking at who-knows-what
"So..." Yukiko trailed off
I looked up at her smiling face. Her eyes glinting with mischief and amusement.
"What?"
Yukiko grinned. Her lips reaching her ears.
"Let's get to know each other."
I almost choked. Again.
"We've just met!" I hissed
Oh yes, I've told you. I'm rude and mean. Don't you dare come near me. I mean it.
Did you see what I did there? No?
Gosh, I'm going to go crazy!
Yukiko raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that the reason I asked you? Cause we don't know each other? We've just met?"
I groaned. I was right. She was talkative. I'm going to go insane with her!
I went back to eating. Maybe if I ignored her she'll leave me alone. It's worth to try even though she did the other way around yesterday.
"Oh come on Nat! It will be fun."
I kept my patience. She'll leave soon.
"Nat?"
Patience Natalie. Patience.
"Natalie?"
She'll leave. She'll leave.
"Fine"
Yes!
"I'll start first. I'm Yukiko, Ayasegawa Yukiko."
What?
"I'm from Japan. I have-"
Ugh!
"-an older brother. His name is-"
I faced her immediately. I glared.
"Why aren't you leaving?!"
Yukiko frowned. "I thought you wanted me to go first."
I furrowed my eyebrows in anger and impatience. "No! I kept quiet because I wanted you to leave!"
Yukiko blinked. "Oh. Do you hate me so much?"
"Yes! No! Okay you're annoying but please! Leave me alone! I don't have friends, I don't talk to anyone and I'm-I'm used to that! I'm an anti-social whatever, you can go hate me and mock me so... please... just... leave."
I didn't expect I would go full out like that. Revealing my emotions, basically my problems, to someone I just met. Someone. I. Just. Met.
Yukiko just sat there, her eyes widened. She must have not expected me to go and share my problems with her in a burst.
She was annoying, so annoying that I just bursted out mainly everything to her.
Damn.
And then her lips quirked up into a smile. Not large, not small, just enough for me to feel comfort.
"I'm your friend." She said.
So sincere. So genuine.
I don't know what I felt, it was weird, rare. But for sure, tears welled up my eyes.
In a moment, Yukiko was beside me, hugging me as I cried into her shoulder, not caring the other students watching, not caring the stares of attention, not caring a thing about the world.
My... friend?
