After about 5 minutes I stopped waving and started tearing up. My dad looked concerned but didn't say anything. I put my headphones in and played my favorite playlist and went to sleep. While I was asleep I could hear my dad on the phone with his boss. "Yeah, I'm on the way to the firm. I'll be there in about 30 minutes," he said to his boss.
"What, I thought we were going straight to the apartment complex," I said as I woke up.
"I know sweetie just one second this won't take long." he replied. We pulled into his new firm. He got out of the car and said it would only take about 20 minutes. He was in there for over half an hour. I was up now and I sat there the whole half hour waiting for him to come back out. He eventually came back out and apologized for taking so long. "I'm sorry sweetie, they needed me to do some paperwork regarding the move." he apologized.
"I know, it's okay" I replied. Even though it really wasn't. I just wanted to go to the apartment so that I could unpack my stuff and call Josh. We drive away hopefully this time to the apartment. I noticed San Diego's traffic wasn't half as bad as San Francisco's.
We pull up to the apartment. It's definitely a downgrade compared to my last house, it's not even a house. I get out of the car and unload all my bags. I take them inside and find my room. It's almost half the size of my old one. So far I'm not liking this place. I lock my door, take out my comics and snacks, and block out the world and my dad. He comes upstairs to ask me how I like the new place. "How do you like it here?" he asked.
"It's fine" I say, even though I hate it with a burning passion. "I just want to get unpacked and adjust," I say. Even though I only say that so he would leave me alone.
"Okay well I'll let you get settled in. Let me know when you want to eat we can drive around and find someplace," he says
"Ok thanks" I reply. I say all of this while looking at my comics. Not even paying attention. I don't leave the room for dinner. I just decide to stay in my room until it's really late.
