Just The Beginning
On September 10th, 2006, a baby girl was born under the name Ella Rose Brown. Her mother was a beautiful woman named Ashley Joy Brown. She also had a father but not even 4 months after she was born, he left. At first, Ashley was fearful and debated whether or not she could raise a child on her own, but she did. As Ella got into her pre-teen years, she couldn't help but wonder why he left. She would ask herself if it was maybe her fault... if she hadn't been born or would have been a boy, would he have left? Ashley was a great mom but Ella could tell just how much everything was taking a toll on her.. All she wanted was for her mom to be happy and treated like the amazing person she is by someone who could love her for her. Anyone she ever went on a date with left as soon as they found out she had a kid. The good thing is Ashley had a best friend she had been friends with since high school, Brianna Baker, who took on the role of being a second parent to Ella along with her husband, Benjamin. The only problem was, Ashley and Brianna got pregnant two months apart from each other. While Brianna and her husband tried to be there for Ashley and help her raise her baby, they were also raising one of their own. Brianna's baby turned out to be a girl as well, they named her Valarie Grace Baker.
As the girls got older, they became inseparable. So close that they would almost consider each other sisters. Except there was one thing that kept them from thinking of each other as sisters rather than best friends. They both had a huge crush on one another. Neither of them ever confronted each other about it, assuming it was just a silly childhood crush that would eventually go away, and proceeded to ignore their feelings as they got older. Valarie came out as a lesbian when she was 14. Everyone was accepting of her, including Ashely, Ella's mom. Ella was proud of her best friend for finally being her true self but she was worried that things would become awkward between them once she starts dating girls and introducing them to the family. It's not that she was against Valarie liking girls, she was just worried that she might get jealous seeing Valarie give another girl her love and affection. Ella has only ever seen Valarie "flirt" with her so she doesn't quite know how she'll feel if she sees her and another girl's tongues down each other's throats.
