"Yay! It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring! He bumped his head, and went to bed, and woke up in the morning!" I hear two, five year old voices yell from outside. Michi and Gelda are playing outside in the rain, while Ualliuv and I cuddle on the couch in the living room. "Can you get them to SHUT UP?!?" Stephiny yells from the basement. "Why don't you? If you want them to stop bothering you, then you shouldn't have moved in with us!" I yell back at her. "Or YOU could leave if you want them to shut it!" Ualli hollers at her. I raise my eyebrow at Ualli. What?" He asks. I shake my head, smiling. "We're thirsty Kia!" Michi tells me through the window with a serious face. And hungry!" Gelda adds, equally serious. "Ok girlies! Why don't you come inside, so I can make you guys some hot chocolate and maybe some cookies, ok?"
"Ok! Ok! Cookies! Hot cocoa!" They shout back. The back door by the fireplace opens and I get up from my comfy position on the couch so I can go grab a towel from the bathroom to dry Michi and Gelda off. "Stomp off all the rain you can from your rain boots, ok?" I call. "Ok!" Gelda shouts gleefully. "Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!" The five year olds screech loud enough to make the sky rain acid. That's what my mom always said when they would yell like this. That was before, the Incident. What is the Incident? Something that changed our lives. Forever. That's what. I sigh. "Are you thinking about the Incident again?" Ualli calls to me. I allow myself a small grin before replying, "You know me too well Ualli!" Before I can turn away to go back to the living room to dry the girls, Ualli is by my side. "Woah, there. You working on your stealth skills?" I know what's coming. I just don't want to hear it again. Before he can say anything, I put my fingers on his lips, forcing him to be quiet while I talk. "Ualli," I say quietly. "I know you still worry about me, but honestly. I'm a big girl now. I'm okay. I can take care of myself." Ualli sighs. "Even so, I still worry about you." He's so sweet. "Kia? Where did you go? Are you playing Hide-and-Go-Seek? Can we play?" Michi calls. Turning away from Ualli to respond, I shout, "No, I'm not playing Hide-and-Go-Seek, I was talking to Ualli! I'm coming back with the towels! You guys have better stomped off all that rain from your boots!" I turn back to Ualli and say, "We can discuss this later." Ualli nods his head in agreement and takes one of the towels from my arms. Then, we troop back to the living room to tackle the job of drying two squealing girls.

Once the girls are dry, I make hot chocolate and Ualli starts to make cookies. Before Ualli even finishes pulling out all of the ingredients, both Michi AND Gelda started to complain, saying, "NO! We don't like Ualli's cookies! Kia makes better ones! Ualli's cookies are BAD! Kia's cookies are sweet and yummy and gooey! Ualli's cookies are nasty!" Luckily for them, Ualli doesn't get offended easily and just shrugs off their comments. "Ok! Ok! I'll let Kia make the cookies. Can I at least finish making the hot cocoa that Kia started to make?" The girls think about this and put their heads together, whispering about what they should do. I look at Ualli who grins and shrugs. He walks over to me and puts his arms around me, hugging me from the back. Resting his chin on my shoulder he says, "Well, they obviously love you more than ME!" Pretending to be flustered, I wave my hand in front of my face and bat my eyelashes at him. "Aww. Do you really think so?" I look down at him and he smiles. Suddenly, we hear an "EWWW," from the girls, who were probably watching us for the whole time. Ualli and I share a swift kiss and then I ask, "What's your answer?" Michi, who is still marveling over our dialogue and trying to understand it gets a prod in the stomach from Gelda. Gelda gets right to the point and tells Ualli in a serious little voice, "Yes. You can finish making the hot cocoa that Kia started. But you have to put extra marshmallows on top like Kia does." Ualli grins and sticks out his hand to them. "You have a deal." And they shake on it. Laughing, I walk over to where Ualli was previously pulling the ingredients out to make the cookies. Pulling on an apron, I set to work quickly. While I'm whisking away, Ualli pours out the hot cocoa and puts them into two little cups and two larger ones, probably for us. As I'm pouring the batter onto the wax paper sheet that sits lightly on the pan, Ualli puts the marshmallows into the four cups. Michi and Gelda come running behind me with their stools to go instruct Ualli how to put in the marshmallows JUST perfect.

Half an hour later, the cookies are out and golden brown. The hot cocoa is cool enough for them to drink and I serve them the hot chocolate with the cookie. "Mmm..." I hear from behind me. Ualli has stolen one of the hot cookies of the pan and munching on it. I grin. "The girls are right. Kia makes WAY better cookies than I could ever DREAM to make. These are the definition of perfect." I laugh. "Thanks! What do you think girls?"
"No! We're princesses!
"Oh, I'm sorry, Your Royal Highnesses! What did you think of the cookies then, Your Majesties?" I apologize, curtsying. Stifling a giggle, Ualli bows too. The girls, excuse me, the PRINCESSES giggle with delight. "Yummy! Gooey! Sweet!" The answers come after they finish their fit of giggling. "Very good, Your Imperialness!" I'm not even sure that's a word, but they seem to accept it. The princesses look confused when I say that, but Ualli asks them, "What about the hot cocoa?" before they can ask their question. "Good!" The girls respond in unison. Ualli beams with pride. "But actually, Kia made it.You just watched it cook." Gelda points out. Michi nods, backing up Gelda. They are best friends, anyways. Ualli's grin slides off his face. "Hey! I took the cookies out of the oven!" Ualli says, desperately trying to take credit for something. "No! That doesn't count! You didn't take it out all of the way because you said 'OW' and then Kia said that you were burnt and she had to take out the cookies the rest of the way herself!" Michi retorts. "Fine." Ualli huffs. Smiling, I turn to grab my drink from the counter. "What do you think of going to the living room to watch T.V?" Ualli asks us. "Yes! Yes!" Michi and Gelda yell excitedly. "What about you, Kia?" Ualli asks, turning to me. "Yeah! Let's go!" I reply. Grabbing my waist, Ualli and I make our way to the living room, balancing our drinks and cookies. "Don't spill your drinks or drop crumbs on the floor!" I yell ahead. "Ok!" comes the answer from the living room. When we all sit down and pick a channel to watch, I sigh happily and contentedly. I love these happy, joyful days. I wish days like these could last forever and ever. That's when I hear the first scream.

Yeah, it's a little short. I admit. I'll try to update a little more though.

Ualli: Yeah...... I agree.

Me: Wait! Your not supposed to be here! Get out!

Ualli: Why should I?

Me: Don't you DARE give me that cheeky grin young man! I told you to GET OUT!

Ualli: Geez, woman. You have a temper as bad as Kia!

Me: Yes, I do. Now SCRAM!

Ualli: Fine, fine.

Me: *sigh* Finally. So, as I was sa-

Ualli: I'm back!

Me: *facepalms*
