chapter 24 - midsummers

Josh took me out to the dance floor, even though it was still being set up, and we slow danced to the soft music in the background, obviously jokingly.

I then heard clapping and cheering from the people around us. I stopped dancing and turned around to where the people were facing.

But I wish I didn't, because all I saw was Sarah Cameron walking out with her rich Kook family. Ward Cameron, Rose Cameron, Rafe, Sarah and Wheezie.

Ugh.

Everyone was cheering for them as they walked out, like they are famous celebrities or something. Instead of clapping, I stand there with my arms crossed as I watch Sarah walk past. Finally, the clapping stops and I turn back around to Josh.

"Hey, Josh. Is it okay if I meet up with you later? I need to go find someone." I speak.

"Yeah, of course. I'll see you soon." Josh responds.

"All right, thank you so much." I pull Josh in for a quick hug then run off, searching for Pope and Kie.

More and more people started arriving and the venue finally got set up. The band arrived which made many people get on the dance floor, including Kie and I. We danced around to the fun music.

Neither of us were very excited to come, but since we are together, we are kinda glad we did.

Most people have drinks or snacks in their hands. It's currently about 6:45, which means dinner is being served soon.

JJ and John B should wash up soon, hopefully.

Kie and I continue dancing together, spinning each other around while laughing.

"I'll be right back. I'll get us a drink." Kie informs.

"Okay. Yeah." I reply.

I watch as Kiara walks off until I feel a light tap on my back. I turn around and see him.

JJ.

My favourite person in the world, standing there smiling brightly at me.

He's wearing a fancy white shirt with a black vest and colourful bowtie. He's got long black pants on and fancy dress shoes.

"JJ! Hi!" I exclaim, pulling him in for a large hug. He hugs me back tightly, lifting me off the ground a little. I pull away and look up to him. "How are you?"

"I'm.. wonderful." JJ responds, sounding a little distracted. He looks me up and down, scanning over my body. "You look, um... wow." JJ smiles. I chuckle and look down slightly but then look right back up to him. He doesn't take his eyes off me. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you." I smile "You don't look to bad yourself." I joke while punching his chest lightly.

"Thanks." JJ chuckles. "Anyway, I gotta go and serve these people but I'll catch you later?"

"Okay. Yeah. Bye." I nod my head and smile.

"Bye." JJ smiles, waving at me. He hurries off, brushing past me lightly.

I turn around and see Kie coming back with our drinks. She hands me mine and I thank her, then we continue dancing.

- JJ'S POV -
After I talk to Y/n, Rafe and all his friends stop me and start chasing me around the venue. They have been on my tail the entire time. I knock over chairs to try and slow them down a bit but it doesn't do much.

I don't have a clue of where I am going.

I make it to the bathroom and rush inside. I try to unlock each of the cubicle doors but they are all occupied. I turn around the corner to the lockers and see Rafe walking up to me.
