Never Say A Word

Chapter 6

"How do we know that's true?" Ashton asked.
"Because idiot! She's you're guys best friend!" Then Calum walked up to me. He smiled and I just hid behind Michael more. Calum came to the other side of Michael and gave me a hug.
"I'm sorry." He said. When he let go I looked at Ashton.
"Jennifer-." He said then he came over and gave me a hug. "I'm sorry I acted like a total doofus."
"It's ok." Is all I said.
"Guys?" Michael said and we looked out at the street to see Luke. He sat down on the sidewalk putting his hood up. Was he crying?
"USELESS!" We heard someone scream from inside his house. The front door opened and we saw his mom. She stomped up to him and he looked up at her making his hood fall off. He started to back up as him mom came closer. "Go! Stay away from my house!" She yelled. He got up and ran into the forest behind his house then his mom went back inside slamming the door. The boys looked at me and seeing the look on my face they grabbed my arms pulling in the house.
"Jen don't." Calum shook his head.
"I'm sorry but I have to." I said looking him in the eyes then I ran out.
"Wait!" He said and I stopped. When I looked back at him him and Ashton were getting their shoes on. I smiled and we all ran down into the forest looking for him. When I heard quiet cries I looked up in the trees soon seeing him. I climbed up with the boys following.
"Luke?" I asked sitting on the same branch as him. He looked up at he.
"What?!"
"What happened?" I asked calmly taking his hood off his head.
"None of your fucking business!" Luke yelled pushing me and I fell out of the tree screaming once I hit the ground. The boys came down and got down around me.
"Jennifer you ok?!" Michael asked.
"No!" I sobbed. I landed on my leg badly.
"Guys her legs bent wrong." Calum said and I refused to look.
"I can't carry her up I'm still injured." Michael said.
"I'll carry her." Ashton said.
"No I will." Calum stopped him. He looked at me before he picked me up bridal style and I screamed when I had to bend my leg. They quickly walked up the hill and out of the forest. I looked up at Calum before I closed my eyes.

"I hope she's ok." Michael said sitting on Calum's couch in the basement.
"Yeah I wonder if she's awake now." Ashton said. What? What was happening?
"Guys I'm right here." I said getting in front of them.
"She fell asleep in my arms." Calum said staring down at the floor. Was he ok?
"Calum?" I asked but he didn't hear me. None of them did. "Calum! Ashton! Michael!" I yelled but none of them paid attention. Michael got up and started walking towards me. "Finally one of you listen!" I said but he didn't look at me he was getting closer and closer. I fell over when I backed up and he walked through me.
"Why is it so cold right there?" He asked. Was I dead?! I looked at my hands and saw that I could see through myself a little. What was happening? If I was dead I was going to do something I've always wanted to do. I got back up and looked at Calum all sad. I squat down a little to be eye level with him. Then I gave him a small kiss. When I moved back I could tell he felt it.
"That was weird." He said.
"What?" Ashton asked.
"I felt a cold breeze on my lips. Only on my lips."
"You're probably just say dreaming about your first kiss."
"That you'll never get." Michael said coming back. Then everything started to blur and soon everything went black until I opened my eyes. It was all just a dream. I was in the hospital with a cast on my leg. It hurt so bad!

When I woke up Calum was sitting in a chair next to the bed.
"When did you get here?" I asked tiredly.
"I was worried so I've been here for half an hour. You look so pre-peaceful when you sleep." He said with a small smile. "How you doing?"
"Better. Did the doctor ever say when I can go home?"
"He said it's possible you can go home tomorrow morning."
"Good." I smiled. "So what did you boys do yesterday?"
"We hung out at my house like usual. Only I didn't play video games with them I just watched." He paused. "Oh and something weird happened yesterday."
"What happened?"
"I felt something cold on my lips, only on my lips and it didn't feel like a breeze. I'm still confused about it." Wait. I had a dream about what the boys were actually doing at that time. And Calum felt me kiss him.
"Huh that's weird." Is all I said. He nodded and it went silent.
"Michael and Ash would of came but they are at school."
"Why aren't you?"
"Because I wanted to see you." He put his hand on mine.
"But you need to go to school."
"I'm scared of Luke."
"Why?"
"Because when you're not there he picks on me."
"Aw. Then I guess you can stay here. Plus I like the company." I smiled and he returned it.

Later the door opened and Michael and Ashton came in.
"Hey Jennifer how you doing?" Michael asked pulling over two chairs to for him and Ash. They sat down.
"Good. Leg still hurt but other than that good." I said.
"Oh we brought you a present!" Ashton smiled.
"You givey!" I said reaching my arms out. Ashton then got papers out of his backpack.
"Homework!"
"Really?" I asked disappointed.
"Yep. Oh and here's some notes for math." He handed me his math notebook opened to the page it had today's notes on.
"What bad stuff did Luke do?" I asked.
"Actually, he didn't go to school." Michael said. "It was awesome and weird not having him there."
"Why didn't he go?"
"We don't know. But it wasn't an excused absence."
