It's weird to think that in what seems like and instant, you can feel so different about someone you've known forever.
Isaiah was not your typical dream boyfriend. He was tall and the size of a stick. He didn't have perfect teeth or the best taste in style. He was kind of a nerd that no one really knew existed.

The only reason I knew he existed was because he was the son of my moms best friend. We had known each other for years but we never spoke. When I came over, he was know where to be seen. It was as if he was as afraid of me, anytime I saw him, it was if him running in the other direction.

I finally figured out why in the 6th grade; he has had a major crush on me. Of course I didn't like him back because he was "weird". But one day that all changed.

We were both 16 attending my youth groups annual retreat called Freefall where youth groups from all over North Carolina gather all together to worship God. All my friends were there and I got to spend a whole week with them in the middle of no where playing lots of volleyball and eating the worlds worst food. But I found myself spending the most time with someone unexpected: Isaiah.

The more I was with him, the more I realized how sweet and funny he really was. We'd spend hour talking about anything and everything and in those moments, I forgot all about his imperfections. Those crooked teeth oddly seemed attractive, and nothing else seemed to matter, and right then, June 27th, 2013, I fell in love with Isaiah Carter, or so I thought.
