"Rayne!" Micah called. I groaned as the sunlight hit my eyes. Another morning I was having to get up early to train.
"Rayne Arabella! Get your ass out of bed now!" She yelled a few minutes later. She used my middle name, she's serious.
"Alright, I'm up! I'm up!" I grumbled back. I rolled out of my oversized bed and walked into the bathroom. Thank goodness for modern technology. I jumped into the shower, not even waiting for the water to get hot and quickly cleaned my body and washed my hair. When I was finished, I walked into my closet and chose a simple workout outfit for the day. I fixed my long raven black hair into a ponytail as I glanced back into the mirror I noticed my lavender eyes were a bit cloudier than usual, must be from the lack of sleep I've had over the last few days. I tore my gaze from the mirror and made my way into the kitchen of the house my family shared.
"Good morning sunshine!" Micah smirked as she flipped the omelet she was cooking. She tends to make herself at home, which is fine with me.
"Yeah, yeah." I gripe. She knew I was not a morning person, but she always teased me regardless.
"Here's your omelet and fruit shake to start the day off right." She smiled as she handed me the items and I gave her the best morning smile I could.
"You'll be practicing in wolf form today, so you'll need all the energy you can get." She informs me, while sipping her own smoothie. Micah couldn't actually train in wolf-form, no woman could, except for me. It was a mystery as to why I could. Woman had all the same genes though, fast healing, speed, agility, heightened senses, even mind-linking, but none were shifters. At least none that we were aware of. My father had tried finding information about it, but there was nothing, not even other packs had any woman that could. My father decided to keep my ability hidden from the world, for fear that wolves would come for me and start a war should they not have me.
"Why wolf form again, we did it all last week." I whined. She wasn't having it though.
"Don't whine Rayne, you're the daughter of an Alpha, you shouldn't be whining." She scolded me as she cleaned up the dishes. She was just like a mother hen.
"And you're the daughter of his Beta, what's the difference?" I mocked as if I were a child.
"The difference is that you are probably the most powerful female in the entire 7 kingdoms, so you have a huge responsibility." She says as if she's a mentor.
"Why do you have to sound so know-it-all? Besides, just because of my ability doesn't mean I'll be getting Alpha, you know it'll be my brother." I told her chomping down on the last bite of my meal.
"It doesn't matter who takes Alpha. What matters is that you're strong enough for yourself and this pack. Also, todays your 21st birthday Rayne, that means you'll meet your mate within the year, hopefully. You may even end up with another Alpha or maybe a Beta?" She exclaims, clearly more excited than I on the subject.
"You know how I feel about that subject. I want to be mateless for as long as possible."
"That's nonsense Rayne. A mate would make you stronger and that also means I could be an aunt." I rolled my eyes at her.
"You know I don't view love the same as everyone. It shouldn't be so instant, you have to grow into it. You should have to gain each others trust, work to be happy, and maybe I just don't..." I was cut off by a low, throaty growl coming from behind me.
