Previously: "All I know now is that I really have to get back to S.T.A.R Labs and as quickly as possible."

One week later.

It turns out that a bus or train back to Central City costs a lot of money. And as I mentioned earlier, I have none.

I've been living in the alley I woke up in for a week now as I try to scavenge for money.

After a lot more consideration on the idea than I'd like to discuss, I decided against pick-pocketing, not wanting to stoop to a criminal level or get caught and put into jail.

So here I am in a small Jitters, trying to apply for a job.

"So you haven't worked at a coffee shop before?" The manager asks me. She's about 26 or 27 years old and has light blonde hair and stark blue eyes.

"Uh, no. But I'm a fast learner and a hard worker," I say, trying not to let out my begging undertone. I really need this job though.

She bites the corner of her lip as her eyebrows furrow lightly in consideration.

"Alright, you can get the job but you'll start at the bottom, okay? Just taking orders and cleaning tables." I nod excitedly, a small grin forming on my face.

"Thank you so much! I promise I'll work hard," I thank her before excitedly walking out of Jitters with a skip to my step.

I'll only get paid 5.38 an hour which is probably illegally under minimum wage but I don't mind. I need 132 dollars for a train ticket to Central City so I should only need to work two twelve-hour shifts.

A high pitched scream violently pulls me out of my thoughts, making me jump slightly in surprise.

The scream sounds again and I'm able to pinpoint it to just down the street from me, coming from a dingy alley.

I quickly run towards the screams and skid into the alley to see two men surrounding a young woman.

"Hey!" I shout at them, causing them to turn towards me.

"Get away from her," I growl. They both snigger as they eye me.

"Don't be such a buzzkill princess. Why don't you…" not wanting to hear what he has to say, I swiftly clench my fist and allow the deep purple energy to swirl around it.

"I told you to get away from her," I hiss menacingly, as the energy grows.

Both mens' eyes widen in horror as they start to quiver in fear.

"What are you?....you-you freak?" Bad guy #1 spits out in horror.

I narrow my eyes at him before releasing the energy in his direction, allowing it to brush past his ear and obliviate a trash can behind him.

Both men scream in fear and run into the depths of the alley. I roll my eyes before turning my attention to the young woman who is shaking against the alley wall.

"Are you okay?" I ask her gently as I walk up beside her.

She nods shakily.

"Thank you so much," she whispers before hugging me. I flinch away in surprise.

"Uh, no problem. Would you like me to walk you home?" I ask her. She shakes her head.

"It's fine, I'll just get a taxi." I help her stand up and walk her back into the bustling street where she manages to get a taxi.
