It came as a relative shock when Arizona implied that she wanted Kai. It came as an even greater surprise when she also implied that she wouldn't have been opposed to inviting the couple back to her hotel room that evening.

With a dimpled smile, she simply told Amelia to think about it and then wandered off to tend to one of her patients, leaving the brunette to stand there, stunned, and staring after the blond. The intense wave of jealousy and slight curiosity quickly began to consume her. She knew that Arizona and Kai had dated, she knew that they had an rather interesting history, however, she wasn't entirely sure that she was on board with what the woman, and dear friend, had just dropped into her lap.

Dazed by the turn in their conversation, Amelia wandered over to the nurses station, dropped the iPad in her hand onto a charging dock then tucked her hands into the pockets of her white coat before making her way down the hall to the elevators. She rode down to the second floor and strolled with an unreadable look on her face towards the labs in order to speak to her partner about what had just thrown off the course of her day.

Walking down the hall, rounding a few corners, Amelia glanced through the glass and into the lab when she arrived. Kai had their laptop in their hand and was explaining something to their techs and vaguely motioning to the screen with their index. They were completely unaware and incredibly focused.

Meanwhile, she had no idea what to think.

Pushing open the large glass door as she watched her partner wander back to their own station, they looked up when they sensed her approach and offered a small half smile.

"Shepherd." They greeted with ease, although their smile somewhat faltered when they looked into her eyes to see a mildly troubled look aimed back their way.

"Hey, uhh, busy?" She asked them and received a short shake of the head. Good... She thought as they turned to lean against their work station. "Think you can take a walk with me for a bit?"

"Sure." They nodded and pushed off from leaning in order to walk with the blue eyed woman who turned to lead them out of the lab.

Falling into step alongside her as they began to make their way down the hall, Kai didn't ask what was going on or why she looked troubled, knowing that she was bound to tell them eventually.

They ended up walking to an on-call room and, again, Kai didn't question it.

Walking through the door she held open, they strolled inside and turned to watch her close the door behind her and then lock it.

That was when they finally asked:

"Is everything alright?"

Blue eyes met concerned green and Amelia's hands found themselves resting on her hips. She glanced up at the ceiling for a second, then sighed, her gaze falling to watch Kai casually part their own white coat in order to slip their own hands into the pockets of their trousers.

"Arizona said something a couple minutes ago and I am really struggling with it." Amelia told them, and she watched a crease begin to form between Kai's brows.

"What did she say?" They furthered, wondering what in gay hell could she have said to cause their partner such evident concern.

Pursing her lips briefly, Amelia rocked a bit on her heels, her eyes landing on the patch of floor between them for a moment while she gathered her thoughts. Afterward, she looked up at them.

"It's more what she implied than anything... And what she implied was that she wants to sleep with us."

For a moment, Kai just stared into her eyes. Amelia could see them working out what she had just informed and that processing took a few minutes. All the while, she continued to gaze into their eyes and wondered, when the shock wore off, what were they going to think? How were they going to react? What were they going to do?
