Loki startled awake when the jet came to a stop. He didn't know when he had fallen asleep or even how, but he had at some point and his neck was paying the price. Around him, everybody stood from their seats, stretching out their aching muscles or moving around. Loki stood up himself and walked down the ramp of the jet.
Outside the sun was beginning to peak over the hills. Houses and buildings lined the streets, most of them white, gray or brighter pastel colors. Out in the distance was a large body of water with all different kinds of boats bobbing at their docks. Around the whole area were green rolling hills.
"Wow it's beautiful here," Natasha whispered behind him.
He agreed with her silently. It was beautiful.
"When will everyone else arrive?" Clint asked.
"About two hours or so," Natasha replied.
"What do we do until then?" Clint questioned.
"How about we look around?" Thor suggested. "I would love to see everything."
"That's a good idea. I think we should," Steve said. He started down the road and everyone followed.
They wandered about for the better part of an hour, looking in empty shop windows, empty houses and other buildings. Most, if not all of the places had been newly furnished and ready to live in. Even the stores had all the shelving and other things they would need to open them almost immediately. On top of that, everything looked nicely repaired and some places freshly repainted. Even the road was patched and potholes were filled.
After the group had walked around the town, they approached the edge of the water. Some of them sat while others stood and looked out at the water. Loki watched Natasha walk to the edge of a dock, take her shoes off and sit down, her feet a few inches in the water.
"What are you looking at brother?" Thor asked him, his voice embarrassingly loud.
"Thor, quiet down," Loki hissed, turning to look at him.
"Why?" Thor quirked an eyebrow, looking around where Loki was previously looking. "Ahh, I see now."
"You see what?" Loki asked, his irritation growing.
"I see what you were watching. If you wish so badly to speak to her, why do you not just go up to her and strike up a conversation?"
"Natasha? I do not want to talk to her at all."
"Hmm," Thor hummed sarcastically. "I do not believe that."
"Well you should because it is the truth."
"Loki. Brother. I know it is not the truth. Do you know why?"
Loki frowned. "No, Thor. I don't know why."
"Because, I have seen you watching her on and off and looking at her for awhile. And you danced with her too."
"That dance was nothing. I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing," Loki stated, his ears feeling suddenly warm.
Thor stood quietly for a minute before moving quickly and grabbing Loki's arm. He dragged him to the dock by Natasha who looked up in surprise when the two approached.
"What's wrong?" she asked, moving to get up.
"Nothing. Stay seated please," Thor said quickly. He awkwardly shoved Loki into a sitting position next to her. "Have fun you two. Only one hour until the Helicarrier is here, so spend it wisely."
"Thor!" Loki hissed, feeling a hot pang of anger through him when Thor just smiled and walked away.
Natasha let an irritated sigh out. "What did Thor put you up to?"
