I was in the woods again. Only this time, I was standing at the edge of the meadow, the overgrown grass tickling my leg in my dreams. In the middle was Laurent, ready to punch the wolves as they pounced on him.

It looked exactly as it did when Laurent had attacked me, only that I was on the outside looking in. I noticed the big, black wolf which I assumed was the alpha and the others. Some of them were greyish in tone, others were red.

From the five that were there, I noticed a smaller-statured wolf. They were still big, but in comparison to the others, they were small.

They had looked me in the eye, a tinge of recognition flashing in their eyes. The wolf was intelligent, no doubt, but it was aware.

And I thought of Jacob and finally, I remembered the full details of the beach.

Supposedly, we can shapeshift into wolves.

Charlie was in the kitchen in full uniform along with their hunting dog.

I patted Bambi's head. I didn't know why they had named the dog Bambi, but it felt ironic because Bambi's mom was killed by a hunter.

"We're going in with the big boys," Charlie houghed. "Harry Clearwater and a bunch of hunters as well."

"Is it that bad?"

"We found blood this time. A missing hiker, blood – Fork's won't let me rest until they get answers."

A chill shuttered my bones. People were dying. Was it the wolves doing? Was it Laurent? I didn't know. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt before insinuating that they were a killer. The picture of Jungkook devouring a liver in the alley behind the restaurant crossed my mind.

Did the werewolves do that too? Were they so out of control that they killed people?

Whatever the case, I needed to warn them.

Billy opened the door for me first thing in the morning. The sun had barely risen and only a small light was on in the house. I was sorry to interrupt the man's morning sudoku puzzle.

"What brings you here today?"

"Is Jacob in?" I asked. Once more, Billy put on a poker face. If it weren't urgent, I would have rolled my eyes.

"Do you know what Charlie is doing today? He's going into the woods to hunt some wolves," I hoped the stress on the word wolves told him enough.

"So, I would like to talk to Jake if you don't mind."

Billy pursed his lips. "He's been out all night; I wouldn't wake him if I had to."

The door to Jacob's room was slightly open and I could see him knocked out on his bed. He looked at peace, but there was a certain frown on his face and dark circles etched under his eyes. It was taking a toll on him; whatever it is he was doing.

I felt pity.

"I'll be at the beach until 10," I told Billy. He nodded. I didn't want to impose my presence onto him as much as I wanted to ask him about, well, everything. I remember that he was one of the elders on the council. Surely, he knew what was going on.

I shoved my hands deep into my pockets as I waited on First Beach. I remembered the small things Angela told me when we walked along here – St. James, the islands, I looked out on the floor for small pieces of driftwood I may drip on.

I needed to sit down and think.

Was Jacob a murderer?

It was a fair question, and I didn't want to let myself think about it. The vampires I knew have all probably killed someone at some point. The Cullen's probably have before they switched to what they call a vegetarian diet. Taehyung had a small ethical system in place of drinking nearly expired blood drive bags from the hospital and running restaurants where the left-over blood from slaughter could be given to Jin or even Jungkook in the end if he was having a bad week and needed a liver.
