A large fireplace crackled and snapped as it heated an elegant living room, protecting the area from the harsh winter wind that had snuck its way into the castle. Especially since it was December, the coldest month of the year, for Ayaseeru's capital city that is. Snow storms happened often during this time, hell, one was currently raging outside of the castle right now. The wind made roaring sounds, rattling the glass at times.
A small Archalium sat on a velvet red sofa bundled up in a cozy blanket couldn't help but stare at the window. Not even the dark forest was visible to her, it was just the pouring snow. Just a white fury was all anyone could see really, it was a shame for anyone traveling this time of year. Any crops that were left out would become bad, the economy would slow down as marketers wouldn't be able to stop by as often. The only good thing about this season was the holidays and its aesthetic. But other than that it was a living hell for most, even the King himself couldn't enjoy it due to how messed up everything was.
Well lost in thought, the gentle sound of the door creaking open could've been heard. Causing Karina to lose track of her thoughts and turn towards the door. There stood the king himself, Niran, holding two cups of what smelt like hot chocolate in one hand, and a record in the other.
"I'm back, Darling." He spoke softly, his slight accent rolling off his tongue smoothly. The archalium on the couch slightly perked up due to his arrival. Her eyes were staring at him instead of the items within his hands. Steadily, Niran made his way to the couch where Karina laid. Once there he carefully set the two cups on a nearby coffee table, Karina hastily came out of her blanket cocoon and snatched one of the cups, curling back up into her blacket and holding the cup near her face.
"Careful, I just made that so it's pretty warm." Niran warned, giving her a small pat on the head. Karina nodded back as a response. Her eyes stayed focused on him as he took a few steps towards a record player on top of a nightstand. Watching as he gently placed the record he was holding, into the record player. Within a few seconds, the faint sound of classical yet semi-romantic music filled the room within a matter of seconds. Once all set up, Niran cautiously picked up his mug off of the coffee table and slowly sat down next to Karina, wrapping one arm around her. The Archalium snuggled up to her beloved husband, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside when they're skin met. Even after years of being in love, they both still got all flustered with one another. They were still just as passionate as when they met. They've seen the worst of one another at this point yet still madly in love with the other. That was true romance.
Even with Niran's dreadfully busy schedule he always made sure to spend time with Karina, that was always his first priority, no matter what. He adored spoiling her whenever he could, even small things would light up Karina's eyes and it just set his heart ablaze all over again. He could definitely see that light in her eyes in this moment. Even without jumping around excited, he could tell she appreciated this moment greatly.
"I love you." Niran leaned down, giving Karina a small peak on the forehead.
"I love you too." She scooted in closer to him. His body always projected an unusual amount of heat, though for hellion wardens it was normal. Even after years of touching, Karina still loved the feeling of his warm skin. He had a warm personality to match.
Karina took a few sips of the hot cocoa, once done she leaned over and placed it on the coffee table. She had a bad habit of finishing drinks too quickly. Sometimes it gave her a stomach ache, but other than that she was fine. The room was ever so silent besides the quiet music playing in the background. Though it wasn't awkward or discomforting, it was peaceful. They were having a moment. Which didn't happen too often, especially during the colder seasons.
Niran gently grabbed Karina's hand, rubbing her knuckles gently as she placed her head on his shoulder. With her husband by her side, music playing, and a warm environment, it wasn't long till she began to feel doozy. A quiet yawn left her as her eyelids lowered. The hellion squeezed her hand as a form of reassurance and comfort.
Karina glanced down to the hand her husband was holding and smiled. It was such a little action but it meant a lot. As she closed her eyes she could feel a pair of lips on her forehead.
Niran looked down at Karina as she drifted off to sleep, he adored her whenever she slept. She always seemed at peace in her sleep, though sometimes she drooled, but that wasn't really an issue. Earlier in they're relationship, he could recall how stressed out or anxious she always seemed, the only time he ever saw her at ease was when she slept. Though thankfully through the years she's become a lot more tame.
It didn't take long for the Archaliums breathing patterns to change and for her body to go limp on Niran's. His shoulder slowly became numb, it was like he couldn't move though. He felt like a cat owner getting stuck in an uncomfortable position for hours because a kitten was sleeping on him. He knew Karina was a heavy sleeper, but it felt like too much of a risk.
A heavy sigh left him as he leaned his head onto the sofa.
Life couldn't get any better than this.
