Chapter Three:

Shi Shi

🐾

Sitting at my desk, I couldn't get that guy out of my thoughts, anxiety to run, grab Gale and hide was overwhelming, but I couldn't do that because I'd look weak and suspicious. I continued my work on the computer trying to distract myself which wasn't working.

Thinking back to that moment encountering him, I recalled his scent that I grabbed before he disapeared as suddenly as he appeared. His scent wasn't strong, maybe he was just a beta, it wasn't as strong as an omegas and definately not an alpha's scent. But I did pick up that it was mixed, another faint smell was on him but a stronger one was also present. Meaning he was most likely part of a pack.

But that didn't make any sense, this was unclaimed land where people without packs were able to live comfortably.

Unless...

A dreaded thought came to my mind. What if that wolfborn was a scout and an alpha was planning to take this unclaimed land?

This caused me to unconsciously growl under my breath and my eyebrows furrow in anger at the thought. If that was the case, where would I go? There were packs surrounding this little haven, so if it was claimed, then I'd either be forced to submit putting Gale in danger due to her being half human, or forced to flee somewhere else.

I took a deep breath and compelled myself. I had to keep calm or my scent might spread like wild fire aside from being an omega, the aura of an angry wolfborn was not a nice one to experience, in some cases even humans could sense it.

Which would be horrible even though incredible rare.

Checking the time I noticed that my shift was almost done. Thankfully I didn't have much more work left to do, meaning I could work on protecting Gale when I pick her up.

If wolves from a pack were scouting, they could report me, which would be horrible because they would most likely want to claim me into the pack since omegas were supposedly important for status these days, due to them becoming more and more scarce.

🐾

When my shift finally finished, I was careful not to let my scent linger, but that was more challenging then I thought it would be, I was agitated and paranoid.

Locking up my computer and packing some work I could get done at home, because only god knows I won't be sleeping tonight if the area was being scouted.

Grabbing all my stuff, I left the building, going to where I parked my car and unlocking it then getting in. Buckling myself in, I started her up and pulled out of the parking, heading out to go pick up Gale.

The drive was horrible, I developed a headache earlier in the day because I had forgotten my glasses, which caused my lazy eye to act up. But nonetheless I arrived at her preschool safely.

Parking the car in the parking lot before getting out and heading inside to get Gale. Due to the traffic I was a bit late so she was the last one. When I went inside I was greeted with a comforting squeaky voice. "Daddy!" Gale called as she ran over, blonde curls bouncing and hugged my legs.

Chuckling I bent down and scooped her up "hey baby girl, sorry I'm late, traffic was horrible".

She just smiled at me "it's ok daddy, Ms. C and I were playing".
