Carter and I strolled around the large groups of people looking for his friends. "So uh your name is Emery what's your last name?" He asked casually
"It's Oaker, Emery Oaker" "what's yours?"
He smiled and said "Carter Harlow"
"So who do you live with?" He asked
"My mum and grandma oh and my cat Pebbles" I grinned thinking of pebbles curled up in my lap. "Who do you live with?"
"My mum and dad and my older sister" he sighed "she's going to uni this year"
"Will you miss her?" I asked
"Yeah she is one of my best friends" he looked around the room and then his eyes rested on my face. "You're really pretty you know" he whispered I turned to face him.
"Oh, thanks" I knew my face had turned bright red. 'Carter Harlow just called me pretty oh my god oh my god' my heart did backflips in my chest.
"You know what why don't we go outside where it's a bit quieter?" He gestured towards the door "ok sure" I lead the way he followed close behind me I could feel his warmth on my Back and hear his steady breath.
The night air was cooler now than earlier. We walked over to a bench in the corner of the garden. A big oak tree loomed over us where we sat. "It's a little cold out here would you like my jacket?" I asked
"Hehe, no thanks, I'm okay, but that's very generous of you" he smiled and as he did, there was a sudden flash of light where a dozen fairy lights suddenly turned on, illuminating the area. "Wow," I said.
"Yeah wow," he said, we looked around the garden there were only a couple of people by the pool.
"Why haven't I ever met you before?" He looked into my eyes and of course, I blushed "oh well I don't really know"
"Wait you are in my English class you sit at the back" he turned to look back at the house.
"Yep and you sit at the front"
"Yeah that's right I really can't believe I have never talked to you before".
"Well we basically only have that lesson together so" I sighed
"Mrs. Nickel is so annoying my god" he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah I swear she hates me"
"It's not just you, it's everyone she just is plain angry" he laughed again and looked back into my eyes.
A light breeze blew my hair across my face. And he reached out and tucked it back behind my ear. I stopped breathing my mind started to melt and my heart basically collapsed 'what on earth just happened did Carter really just touch me'.
"Do you know Maggie?" He questioned
"No not really I guess we were kinda friends at the beginning of year seven before she got popular" "do you know her?"
" uh yeah we briefly dated in year nine only a couple of months but she grew out of me quite quickly and we broke up" he shuffled in his seat.
"Have you always lived here?" He leaned in slightly closer "no well I was actually born in France my dad's French and we lived there until I was seven, what about you?"
"I moved here in year eight, my dad got a job as a teacher at this school"
"Oh my gosh really I didn't know your dad taught at our school" I laughed "wait Mr. Harlow the science teacher is your dad"
"Yeah hehe yep that's him" he laughed and looked down at the floor. Then back at me and smiled, I leaned in closer and so did until we were only a few inches apart. It felt like there was a magnet drawing us together. "Your beautiful" he whispered.
And then he KISSED me.
And my heart stopped.
My whole body felt electric.
I didn't want it to End.
But he gently pulled away. I was blushing scarlet red and my cheeks were burning he reached out and touched them lightly then he moved his thumb down to my lips where he traced their outline, I smiled and looked into his eyes.
"Em" "Emery" someone was calling my name, I turned to look. Ivy was walking out of the door into the garden calling for me. "I better go that's Ivy she's looking for me" I sighed and slowly got up, he smiled "ok then but I'll see you tomorrow right?"
"Yeah definitely" I started walking away my heart doing backflips in my chest. 'I just KISSED Carter and he wants to see me TOMORROW'.
Ivy caught site of me and her jaw fell open when she saw who I had just been talking to.
