The building was like a haunted maze. Endless corridors followed endless hallways. Whenever I open a door, there would either be another corridor or a small, stuffy room filled with creepy props. My pursuers are closing in, so I have no choice but to enter the room and look through the mass of Halloween masks and bloody dummies for an escape. I found one! Under the maggot-covered giant teddy-bear was a small hole with just enough room for me to crawl through. Past the small entrance was a dark, damp tunnel. It stank of dead corpses and rat droppings. I could hear rats and cockroaches scuttling along beside me. I needed to get out of here. Breathing through my mouth, I crawled as fast as I can blindly through the tunnel. It was easier said than done. Jagged rocks sticking out of the rough, stone walls tore at my clothes, leaving bloody gashes on my arms and knees. When will this tunnel end? Suddenly, I heard a noise far away behind me. How he got into the tinny tunnel was a mystery.
The last time I saw him, he was way taller than me. He towered over me like a mountain of bones and flesh. Except for the red glow where his eyes were supposed to be, he looked perfectly normal. But there was this vibe around him that made me shiver with fear whenever he looked my way. There was no way to see his face, as it is always in the shadow of his lowered hat and high-necked trench coat. Whenever I was within viewing distance of this particular stranger, my body tenses up. My instincts tell me to run far away from him.
Even though it was completely against logic for him to fit in here, for some reason, I was positive it was him. I crawled even faster than before, and stumbling even more often. When was this tunnel going to end? He is gaining on me! The walls got even more jagged, but the tunnel was beginning to get wider. Fear and panic rose more and more each inch he got closer to me. The tunnel is now large enough for me to run. I got up and started to sprint like I've never sprinted before. Adrenalin rushed through me as I took my last steps towards the light at the end of the tunnel. I was going to be free!
But I was wrong. The light was only a small candle lit in a large, rocky chamber. Every step I took echoed loudly, making it sound like a dozen men pursuing me. I blew out the candle so once he gets here, it will be harder for him to find me. I scrambled to the farthest corner from the entrance to the tunnel and waited. Suddenly, a pair of frightening red eyes appeared by what seems to be the entrance. I tried to control my breathing, but the long run has made me so out of breath, it was nearly impossible to make it any quieter. The eyes slowly made their ways towards me. By now, all I could do was stare into them and pray for a hero to come out of the blue and save me. Unfortunately, my silent calls went unanswered. He creptcloser and closer to me until I felt my back hit the rough wall behind me. I was paralyzed in fear. All I can do now is stare into those frightening eyes of his and hope my death was fast.
"Any last words, girl?" He asked me. I didn't move. He moved his head to the crook of my neck, his rancid breath making me want to gag. An agonizing fire burned through my whole body, starting from the point where he bit me. I had never felt such pain in my entire life before! My whole body felt like as if it was being torn apart bit by bit by hot, iron tweezers. I started to suffocate. I wanted to shove him away from me, but my body was not complying.
All I could do was scream in ear-piercing, unbearable agony. No matter how much I screamed, he would not let go. How could he stand it? I tried and tried until my throat was raw and raspy. But he did not let go. After what seemed like years, the pain started to ebb away. What small amount of light his eyes made slowly started to fade and black shadows even darker than the cave danced at the edge of my vision. The red tint of his eyes and my blood started to give away to the darkness that enveloped me, taking the pain away with it at the same time. Finally, everything stopped and all was peaceful. I fell into a deep sleep.
