When it comes to my name, I don't feel much of a connection unlike others. My name is definitely one that I personally wish I never had for multiple reasons. It really doesn't fit with who I am or my personality as a whole, at least I don't think it does, but many others could probably say that I'm wrong, and perhaps I am wrong.

I was named after my Father's best friend, Eric. When I was told of this, I honestly wasn't so happy about it because I wasn't fond of my name in the first place. When my Father told me, "You were named after my best friend from high school, Eric," it broke my heart in a way. I wished that my Father wouldn't have named me after his best friend, and that my Mother would just agree with it in the long run. As far as my knowledge goes, he lives on the southern side of the United States now, so I feel like I was named to be the child who reminds my Father and his wife of his best friend who lives on the opposite side of the country. I sometimes wish that they would've tried coming up with names by themselves prior to my birth.

While my last name, Davis, is something I do like, I absolutely despise my middle name. My middle name, Michael, is just another first name in my eyes. Why give me a first name, and give me a middle name that clearly is just another first name? It's a question I don't think I'll ever be able to answer, and I don't even think my Father could answer that either. I have personal intentions to think about legally changing my middle name, if not my first name.

When it comes to living with my name, a lot of people show support or like to rally behind me in certain issues we have in society. With many unfortunate events already occurring in my somewhat-short life, many people hear of my name, and they show their love and support in the best way that they can. When they hear that I am behind a person or organization over a certain issue or topic in today's society, many people hear of it and they rally behind me and show their support for the person or organization that I am supporting. If you think of all this in the short term, it shows that my name shows a sense of positive influence in society, and I'm not opposed to that, especially since someone like me lives in a world that has changed drastically, with more negative influence than good. I hope that my name will be able to change the world or parts of society for the better, instead of continuing to let myself stand aside and allow these other people with different names to make things much worse for me or others in society.
