There was something special about superheroes in Bruce's eyes. People who had powers since they were born, or abilities they got form accidents, always seemed to fascinate the young boy. And it wasn't anything new to the people of their universe of earth, either. Many different heroes, and so villains, had existed with different powers and abilities. What seemed to really excite Bruce though, was the prospect of a regular human without powers being able to fight alongside these meta-humans and become heroes themselves. His father, was no different.
It felt like a blessing to Bruce that he knew two of the best people in his life; That being his father, Thomas Wayne, and his childhood best friend, Clark Kent. With only a couple miles in between both their homes, it was no question that the two would have visited each other often. And indeed, they did. Bruce often went to the countryside, particularly smallville, on his father's days off to get some fresh air and to visit the family who had helped the Waynes before. The trend and habit of this did uphold for quite a while, only slowing down and coming to a halt in the last couple of years. Luckily enough though, it was by that time that Clark had the permission from his parents to fly to Gotham City and see Bruce by himself. But only Gotham, and only to the Waynes.
That summer evening was no different. Bruce was on the balcony of his room, watching out into the sunset as he kept a hold of his pocket watch. Seconds kept ticking by. Each one that passed only made him more and more eager to see his boyfriend. Bruce wondered if Clark had gotten held up somewhere, or if he decided to ditch last minute. Slowly as the sun began to set in the horizon, Bruce became more and more disheartened. Knowing Clark's curfew and rules of not being allowed to fly during the night, it would only mean that he wouldn't be coming that night if by nightfall he wasn't there yet. Just as the sun was about to get engulfed by the trees though, a familiar black figure started coming towards him. Bruce shoved his watch back into his pocket, standing on the tip of his toes as he gripped onto the railings. A nervous yet eager look was on his face as he stared and squinted at the object flying closer and closer to him. No sound, no buzzing. This wasn't a plane. It wasn't a helicopter or jet. Was it a bird? He really didn't hope so.
"Come on, come on... That's gotta be you, Clark," Bruce muttered to himself in excitement.
And within a few more seconds, a flying figure came crashing straight into Bruce. The impact was so great that it sent Bruce flying back into his room, and onto his queen-sized bed. It didn't seem to phase him though, as Bruce already had his arms wrapped around the figure.
"There you are! I thought you'd ditch me last minute!" Bruce exclaimed, unable to hold back a wide grin from coming onto his lips.
"I flew as fast as I could, okay! I could hear you just murmuring from miles away," Clark laughed, nuzzling himself into Bruce's chest before he pulled away. "Ma had me move the tractor since it got jammed. That's why I'm late."
Bruce snickered. "Excuses, excuses. If I were your employer I would've penalized you," Bruce sat up and properly sat Clark in his lap.
"But you're not, are you Mr. Wayne?" Clark asked with a cheeky look in his eyes
"Not yet," Bruce answered, kissing him on the lips sweetly. "Just you wait. When I finish school, I'm taking after my father and half of Gotham with it."
"I don't live in Gotham," Clark replied.
"Well you should. Like hell am I driving six hours to see you in the barn."
"Make me," Clark said. "I wanna be a journalist. I doubt you have any publications under your name."
Bruce shrugged. "Like I said, I can buy anything I need to lure you to Gotham. Or I'll just buy whatever company you're working at when you do decide to move to a town that's not Gotham."
