The group reached the Corruption and jumped down into a shaft. They looked around and figured the spiky, purple things were Demon Altars. Zach laid the swords on the altar. Suddenly, they started floating and moving around. The swords emit a multi-colored glow. Out of nowhere, they float together and, in a blinding flash, combine. When the group opens their eyes again, a single purple sword is floating over the altar. The Night's Edge. Zach takes it and puts it away. They go home and inquire about the Shadow Key. The Guide told them that it's used to unlock Shadow Chests in the Underworld. He told them that they should make a bridge of platforms while they are searching that stretches across the entire world. The group goes down and they search for Shadow Chests. Zach gets a Sunfury and Dark Lance, Bell gets a Hellwing Bow, and Mike got a Flamelash and Flower of Fire. They made a platform across the whole world. As they built it, they killed a Demon holding a strange doll. It resembled the Guide. Zach got that same feeling of dread in his stomach.

"Something wrong, Zach?"

Zach snapped out of his trance.

"Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm... fine."

They returned home. Zach felt sick, and sat down at the table. He hid the doll from everyone, but somehow, the Guide knew.

"It's fine, Zach. You need to do it." He said.

"Huh?" Zach said, looking up.

"You need to throw the doll into the lava to summon the guardian of this world. He needs to be defeated. It's the only way you can get the things you need to save the world."

"What'll happen to you?"

"I... I will die. I think I will return, though I can't be too sure. If I don't, another Guide from the Order of the Guide will replace me. This may just be goodbye."

Bell and Mike overheard.

"What?!" Bell said. "You can't just die! Even if I don't really like you and kept making fun of you, you've been with us since the beginning! You can't die now!"

"That's impossible!" Mike said. "We need you!"

"I know, it's sad, but, it needs to be done. It's either my life or the world that will be gone."

To prepare for the final showdown, the group scrounged around in their chests for some potions that will help them win.
