"So you came from that rift, you say?" Infinite questioned Mephiles, who was staring straight at him. It was awkward to say the least, but Mephiles was trying to understand this new feeling of his.
"Yes, indeed," he replied, "I do not know how it opened, but I am finally able to walk upon land. Yet this is not what I desired."
"Then what is it that you desire?" the jackal asked, "And why must you maintain a constant watch on my eye. It's making me agitated." Mephiles had never once cared for other people's emotions, so he didn't worry about Infinite's growing annoyance. But he did glance away to test if this feeling was really caused by his eye.

"I came from a dimension," he began, recalling what he could, "where I was one being. A flame that consumed all in its path. I remember being... separated and becoming this, I remember wanting to reunite with something and fulfil my purpose. But the only thing I really remember much about is... that void. Nothing else." Infinite crossed his arms. Mephiles wasn't finished. "And your eye is giving off a sensation."
"A sensation, huh?" the jackal cocked his head, "I may be a powerful being but I do not remember my eye creating any sensations." Mephiles' eyes furrowed. If he had a mouth he'd frown. But he had nothing of the sort. "But yet your purpose... a consuming flame... it sounds intriguing."

Infinite leaned forward, this time making eye contact with Mephiles himself, who just mirrored his actions.
"I can tell you have already dominated this world." Mephiles spoke.
"I have, all who opposed me fallen to my feet." Infinite responded.
"Your power interests me."
"And your potential entices me."

The two walked around the former doctor's base, Infinite basically giving Mephiles a tour. The hedgehog of darkness hummed in satisfaction while being introduced to each room and aspect. They reached one full of glass containers, one which was broken.
"This is where he kept all of his experiments," Infinite told him, hovering over to the broken container. "I was one of them. He experimented on me in order to make me stronger, using the phantom ruby to house my power. It appears he made a mistake giving me this much." He turned to look at Mephiles, who had a smug expression.
"I don't see it as a mistake," the hedgehog of darkness spoke, looking Infinite up and down and eyeing the phantom ruby on his chest, "He gave the planet a rightful dominator." Infinite let out a chuckle before crossing his arms over his chest.

"Yes, I suppose, now my eyes are up here."
"What if I don't want to do what you say?"
"Not like I can stop you." The two looked each other in the eyes and didn't say a word for a few moments. It was like they were both sides of the same coin, their appearances night and day but their personalities identical to peas sitting in a pod. Mephiles still felt that odd feeling looking into the other's eye, but it wasn't caused by the eye. Nor was it anything given off of Infinite himself. It was just a new feeling. Maybe a new emotion. But he didn't label it as such, since darkness cannot feel emotion.

Infinite broke the eye contact, seeming awkward. But Mephiles didn't stop staring. He didn't understand the cue to look away. Something in him told him he shouldn't, that he should keep looking. He wanted to keep looking. The jackal looked back at the staring hedgehog of darkness and smirked underneath his mask.
"You really like looking at me, huh. You're an odd one, I must say." He approached Mephiles and examined his form, inspecting his quills, his eyes, his gloves. "How you manipulate yourself to look like someone else is interesting to me," every time his hands came into contact with him, the feeling Mephiles had only grew stronger, and he felt an odd sensation down his spine. "Yet of course you're not them, so some parts of you are different. Like you have no mouth and your eyes are..." He stood in front of Mephiles and inspected his eyes once again, getting rather close. "...unnatural."
"So is yours." Mephiles responded.

"Oh, this is caused by the mask," the jackal responded, still inspecting Mephiles' eyes, "I wonder... if you chose another form would you still have these eyes? Is it just a way to make you unique or is your power not strong enough to perfectly replicate someone yet?"
"Are you really one to judge?" he asked. Infinite stood back and something appeared behind him from a cloud of red squares. It was an exact copy of Mephiles. It stood there silently, staring right at the original. "Impressive."
