I sat on the hospital bed, waiting. Just waiting for the news I dreaded to be brought forward. Fumbling with my hands in my lap, my mind spaced out. When the door opened I jumped, surprised by the sudden sound and movement. In stepped the doctor, solemnly looking at me. His piercing blue eyes bore into mine and I already knew.

"You have been diagnosed with kidney failure. It's pretty late. Too late to try and treat it. I am sorry, but you only have one week to live." He turned around and left. Closing the door softly. Off to tell my family, I'm guessing.

Every piece of me went tense. My eyes stayed wide staring at the door where the doctor just left.

It then burst open, and through it ran Ella. My best friend for the past 3 years. Right behind her was my boyfriend, Taylor. And behind them both was lastly, my father. I watched as my father gripped his fists beside my bed and stood staring around the room. He seemed bored.

I still couldn't move or speak. No matter how hard I tried to do it. My mind was in such shock.

I'm going to die. I thought to myself.

Ella fell over me. Wrapping her arms tightly around my shoulders and crying.

I guess they know. I said sarcastically in my mind.

Taylor stood by me, holding my hand. Tears were welling in his eyes but I saw the muscles in his jaw clenching, trying not to cry in front of me.

During all of this I couldn't speak nor move. I felt all of the emotions building up inside.

The last thing I remembered seeing before I blacked out was my dad leaving the room.
