I heard the gentle sprinkles of rain hit the glass of the window in the kitchen. I felt my lips curl into a soft smile, enjoying the fond memories I have of dancing in the rain. My body moved itself out of the chair I was sitting in and made its way to the front door, I caught myself quickly and analyzed my current outfit. Pajama shorts, a white t-shirt, no socks or shoes and nothing more. I shrug. Might as well, while it’s raining. I think to myself and throw open the door, shutting it quickly behind myself as I sprint off my porch onto the large patch of grass next to my driveway. This is so nice.. I closed my eyes, tilting my head up towards the darkening sky as it slowly but surely began to pour down rain. I sat as I felt the cold water droplets hit my face and neck, my skin soon completely covered with goosebumps. After what felt like a few moments, I opened my eyes, laying in the grass, my clothes soaked. I looked around and saw that the rain had gone back to a soft mist. I stood up, slightly disappointed that I missed all of it, however, I made my way back inside.

“6:32..” I let out an audible sigh, dragging myself into my bedroom to change my clothes. I changed into my favorite soft sweatpants and a loose hoodie, not wanting to catch a cold or anything so might as well try to keep my heat. I made my way into the kitchen, turning on the oven while I grabbed out a pan and pot, making grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup as I had lost so much time in the cold weather. I grab my phone as I pull together ingredients, debating on what music I should play. I finally settled with a song, deciding to listen to some instrumental, enjoying the dark academia feel to the playlist I listened to. I swayed and stepped to the beat with beautiful vibrations hitting my ears. I closed my eyes, dancing around my large kitchen as I listened to my music on my headphones. I danced, keeping my arms and hands up and out, away from my body, as if I were dancing with the love of my life. I danced, slowly feeling a slight pressure between my body and hands. It felt like a body was trying to occupy the space. I furrowed my brows, expecting my imagination to just be running away with me in my high hopes until I froze, feeling a breath hit my skin, making it crawl, I felt my heart jump into my throat. I opened my eyes, ripping my headphones off my head, ignoring the sting as I had scratched my ear next to a freshly healed piercing.

“What.. the hell..” I calmed myself down, listening to it out loud now. I continued with my cooking and I served myself a serving, sitting down at my homemade resin table that I was extremely proud of. I turned on a few videos, watching and laughing here and there as I ate in peace. It wasn’t the first time that my imagination had run off so I shrugged it off as my brain going crazy. I don’t exactly know what I’m thinking but all I need to know is that I’m fine now, nothing’s here and I’m not going to be hurt. I sighed, looking at the time. 8:25.. Damn.. Alright, time to get ready.. I’m losing so much time.. I slowly get up and set my dishes in the sink, I make my way into my bedroom then into the bathroom. I run a bath for myself, watching the hot water fill up the large tub. After the tub was filled, I opened a bath bomb that a friend of mine had just sent me recently, knowing that my job wasn’t all that easy. I smiled soft as I used the toaster shaped bath bomb, watching bright colors pour out of it and color the water. I lit a few candles, dropping a few drops of peppermint essential oil into the bath and turning off the light, I shut the bathroom door, I undressed and slowly stepped into the tub, letting out a shaky breath, getting my skin used to the almost scalding hot water. Once I had submerged my body into the water, I closed my eyes, my senses overwhelmed by the many feelings. The hot water, the fizzing of the bath bomb– or what was left of it– the strong smell of the peppermint. I enjoyed the waves of overwhelming feelings rush over my body as I relaxed into it all. I felt my body sink into the water more and more before sleep slowly took over my brain, my feet and head floating in the water still, I remember the feeling of the water hitting my ears.

I jolted awake, expecting to be splashing water everywhere, my eyes simply blinking as they took in my surroundings. I am in my bed.. I’m dressed.. What.. I looked around, the bathroom door wide open, the flickering of the candle light still going in the dimly lit area. I stared, my body frozen in place as I watched water splash out of the tub before no more noise was heard and the candles were blown out. Luckily, there was just enough light in my bedroom to see there was nothing in the room that sat diagonally from my bed. I slowly got up, turning the bathroom light on, draining the tub quickly and closing the door, leaving it cracked as that was my nightly routine.
