"Because you're a good person, Christina."

———

"Hey, Michelle?"

"Hmm?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

She looked up at me, curious, "Yeah, of course."

"Has everyone been completely honest with me about my head injury?" I ask.

She swallows, "What do you mean?"

"Well, yesterday my neighbour came to my apartment to welcome me to the building."

"What's so wrong with that?"

"I supposedly moved in eight months ago."

She shook her head, "I don't know."

I nodded, letting silence over take us.

Michelle clears her throat, breaking the silence, "Which neighbour was it?"

"Why?" I ask, confused as to why she would need to know.

She shrugged, "Just curious."

"She said she lived in the apartment across from me, number sixty three." I answered without getting giving it a second thought.

She nodded, going back to what she was doing.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom." I announce and left the room without giving her a chance to respond.

I hurry down the hall, heading to the boiler room.

Please be there.

I open the door to find an empty room. I look around for a moment, but end up empty handed.

But then I hear the door open, and I turn around.

The second I lay eyes on him he says, "We meet again."

"I have a question." I say, not responding to his previous comment.

"And what might that be?" Peter asks, tilting his head.

"I, um-" His gaze was hard to hold, "What do you know about me?"

He rolls his eyes, "That's a very vague question, Christina. I'm going to need you to be more clear."

I scoff, "Number one, don't be a dick."

His eyes widen slightly, "Excuse me?"

"Number two," I continue, "What I meant was: am I being told the truth about who I was before my accident?"

His eye twitches in annoyance and he takes a step towards me, "And what makes you think you can talk to me like that?"

I shake my head, "Just please answer the question."
