Ding!

The man in the fish costume looked up with tired eyes. How long had he been knocked out? How did he get knocked out? And, most of all, where was he?

This man's name was Nemoman. He was known as the bringer of peace, the guardian of the ocean. Many looked up to him, praising him with disturbing fanart and shipfics. In return, he had set up a convention. The purpose of this special convention was to allow the Crew, a group of friends, to finally meet each other. It was a good life, at least up until that point.

"That point" meaning when he opened his eyes and saw the monochrome robot cat.

"Mrr!"

It grinned at him with pure amusement, sitting down at Nemoman's feet. Its single red eye sent a chill down the fish man's spine. He struggled, his wrists and ankles bound together by rope. The cat backed up a few steps, sitting behind a red button. Nemoman tried to scream for help, but he couldn't get the sound out of his throat. The cat seemed to take a quick peak to see if the man was tied tightly enough, then rested its paw over the button.

Help me.

The cat smashed the button with a beep.

The floor underneath Nemoman split into two. He was falling. Falling. He'd admit it was an unlikely demise if he hadn't been falling to his very own death. Fear shot through the man. He tried to look up, but nothing was there.

Wasn't there just a cat in an airship of some sort?

Instead, the sky seemed a peaceful pink and orange hue. Why couldn't he scream? Nemoman squeezed his eyes shut. It could've been a dream. He just wanted to wake up and see the happy faces at the convention.

A sharp pain shot through Nemoman's body. He opened his eyes. He, along with the chair, was dangling above flames. The monochrome cat danced around the flames with a hula skirt, wiggling its rear happily and hungrily. Nemoman struggled once again, the chair swishing from side to side. The rope creaked loudly. The cat sighed and threw more logs into the fire. As the flames felt the wood of the chair, Nemoman choked on his own sobs.

"Mrr!"

The flames expanded up the legs of the chair. Nemoman felt warmth. As the fire tore through his suit, he tried to scream for help. The cat shook its head, treading around the flames carefully. It peered up at the burning fish man with greedy eyes. The heat scorched Nemoman's skin. His flesh melted and burned.

The cat watched happily, blowing out the flames. It slid a plate of breading under the chair. The rope snapped just on cue, then the fish man's corpse dropped on the plate with a plop.

The cat pulled out a bib with "Bon appétit!" written in cheerful pink letters. The waves collided with the noise of the monochrome robot's cheerful laughter.

[THE CREW: TRIGGER HELLA HAVOC]

Lexie's heart pounded as they walked next to Brooke. Why were they so nervous? It was just their internet friends. Besides, no shitty brothers or parents. In addition to that, the convention was a small one compared to others. Lexie didn't have to be worried about getting lost.

Brooke seemed to be more than excited. Confident, even. Jealousy ignited in Lexie, but they ignored the feeling and continued on.

The convention center towered above the mostly flat landscape. Gray brick walls surrounded the center, giving it a more secure look. Lexie's legs shook slightly as they stood in front of the building. They were finally here.
