One-Sided Over You

Blaze held the rose to her chest, breathing in and out to ease her nerves as she walked. The trees were thriving with green leaves and the bright blue sky made this day perfect for what she planned.

As she weaved through the trees, she mumbled under her breath, practicing what she was going to say. Blaze appeared at a field that stretched across most of the surrounding area, she breathed in deeply and released it.

In the middle of the field was a small yet cute-looking home, it was surrounded by hand planted flowers and a tree in the front yard. Blaze approached the house, feeling her heart beat louder the closer she got.

She pushed past the fence gate and walked up the stone path towards the front door, she passed a little wooden sign on the way.

"Home of Amy Rose"

Blaze swallowed hard and patted her fur down neatly.

Come on, Blaze. You can do this.

Her gloved hand shook as she knocked on the door, she arranged the pink petals of the rose nervously, wanting everything to be perfect.

The princess felt even more scared than she was with heights as the door opened and she came face to face with a pink hedgehog.

"Oh! Hi, Blaze," Amy beamed, a big smile on her face as she greeted the princess.

The sight made Blaze's stomach flutter and she had to calm herself with another deep breath before responding.

"Hello, Amy," Blaze returned the smile and then held out the flower for the hedgehog to take.

"I have to talk to you about something," the princess admitted, her heart light as Amy looked at the rose with curiosity.

Amy picked the rose from Blaze's hand, another gentle smile grazing her lips as she invited the princess inside.

The purple cat walked in, this was it, the time for her to confess all of her feelings truthfully.

Amy led Blaze inside, Blaze couldn't help but let her eyes wander to the pictures hung on the wall and the plants decorating the rooms. The two made it to the living area but the princess paused once she saw a familiar blue hedgehog seated on the couch eating a fresh chili dog off a plate.

"Sorry! I wasn't expecting you over so I hope it's ok Sonic is here," Amy explained, an apologetic look on her face and her cheeks tinting red.

"Hey, Blaze!" Sonic greeted then took a bite of his favorite food, savoring the taste "Amy makes the best chili dogs, it's why I'm here," Sonic justified, making an excuse as to why he was with Amy in the first place.

Blaze couldn't stop the frown forming on her face.

She could hear the lie hiding his true reasoning as to why he was here. She was a princess, people lied to her every day and because of that, she could tell that Sonic was here for Amy.

The same reason why Blaze was here.

The princess turned her attention to Amy, the pink hedgehog was smiling but her eyes weren't on Blaze but at Sonic with the softest expression.

The moment froze in her head. The look of pure love in Amy's eyes shattered Blaze on the inside. The memories, the thoughts, her feelings, they all rushed to her in a second. Hitting her harder than in any fight she had before.

That's right. How could I be so silly?

Amy Rose has always loved Sonic.

Blaze's chin dipped to her chest, her eyes closing shut as she realized that she stood no chance. Perhaps there was foolish hope in Blaze, that maybe she had a chance to be the one for Amy.
