Your new home was truly gorgeous, but living in Asakusa was definitely going to take some getting used to.

Paper thin walls.

Futons on the floor.

Wood fired cooking.

No refrigeration.

No heating or cooling...

You wanted this lifestyle. It was time to walk the walk.

...But your first night was freezing.

I wouldn't be cold if Beni were here... No no, he's my boss now. I can't be doing shit like that...

"This house is fucking cold, dude." You texted Mara in an attempt to distract yourself as you put on additional layers of pajamas and moved your futon down by the kitchen fire.

"Call Beni."

"Fuck off."

---

Konro brought his cup of tea to his lips, but his eyes followed as Beni paced near the front door in the late night lantern light. He never paced. "Worried about something, Benimaru?"

Beni halted. "What? No."

"You never worry..." Konro's slight smile was hidden by his cup.

"I'm not worried." He sat down across from Konro, picking up the deck of cards to distract himself. "Do you want to deal or should I?"

---

When he stopped by to walk you to your first day, Beni didn't expect to see you under your spare futon and every blanket you owned next to the fire on the main floor.

"Y/n?" He asked tentatively.

Startled, you sat up, scrunching the many layers on top of you. "Beni! Oh no, am I late?" You checked your phone.

"No. Were you really that cold?" The concern in his voice was sweet.

"It was in the 30s last night... there's no heat..." Your sheepish voice escaped you. The last thing you wanted to be was ungrateful for the beautiful house.

"Shit. I didn't think of how you're- I'll adjust the ventilation."

He welcomed himself into your home, but you didn't mind. "It's fine, you've always had your pyrokinesis. How would you know that I'd be cold?"

You were a bit scared to crawl out from all your layers into the shock of the cold air. He ignited a flame in the palm of his hand, and swirled it around the main floor, warming the home.

You let out a sigh of relief that was almost a moan. "Oh god thank you..."

Usually, he protested when he was referenced as a god... But he uh- liked how it sounded from you.

He methodically moved from vent to vent as you put on a pot for tea. You changed upstairs into the uniform that had been left in your room and returned to the main floor as the water began to steam. You popped in a thermometer and pulled the water off the heat at 140 degrees F.

"Thank you," He accepted the mug of tea you offered him. "I'll need my tools for the rest of the adjustments, but tonight will be warmer for you."

"Thank you very much!"

He sipped his tea and looked down, staggered. "Where did you get this?"

"A- tea farm?" You answered, a bit confused by his question.

"It's- good." He slurped another sip.

"Oh! Thank you! Temperature makes a huge difference. If you steep tea in too hot of water, it can lose a lot of the flavor." You offered as you approached your front entrance. "Shall we?"
