Smite waved down at the crowd, grinning his signature smile. The world awaited his announcement.

"Thank you all for coming. I'm here to announce something special. I have gotten rid of the world's nuclear weapons. I will be, not just America's hero. But the World's. I will personally see to the safety and leave on earth. So rest easy! I am always listening."

In 2040, after twenty years of faithful service as America's hero, Smite took on a new role. The world welcomed him with open arms as he took control of the worlds nuclear weapons, and rendered military and policemen useless.

He alone watched over the world, and they liked it that way. Most felt safer even. He was always listening, that was his catchphrase. His lilac eyes could see through anything, his hearing even better.

He was unbeatable. Unmatchable. He'd almost obliterated crime, single-handedly.

The whole world was in his hands. He had his critics. But no one dared say it to his face. The most loved man in the world wore no mask, in all white, save for his red cape, fluttering in his wake.

Everyone rested and trusted in his power, most never questioning why he did what he did. Why he was a hero.

Until it was too late.
