"no, wait!"
miki yelled as she was running to the bus stop, praying that the driver would notice her and wait.

unfortunately when miki finally made it to the bus stop, the bus had already taken off without sparing a moment to wait for the few students who arrived seconds too late.

miki cursed under her breath as she was gasping for air after the long run to the bus stop.
the next bus wouldn't come in a while which left the girl no other choice than to walk.
she had already accepted her fate of arriving late to school, only hoping that the teacher would spare her from detention.

miki ran for her life as she made it through the school gates.
she was already 30 minutes late.
in that moment she regretted the decision of even showing up to school that day, she could've just called in sick and stayed home for the day.
however miki had never missed a day of school and she preferred to keep it that way, even if it meant getting humiliated in front of the whole class.

miki closed her eyes while taking a deep breath as she was preparing herself to knock on the door.
the door flew open and she was met with the teacher's deadly glare.

"i apologize for my late arrival, mr. kang"
miki apologized with a shaky voice as she was avoiding the teacher's intense gaze on her.

"lee miki, how disappointing.
detention after school"

in that moment miki could feel her heart stop beating as her mind went blank.
she had never been sent to detention.

as miki was staring at the floor with a shocked expression a loud scraping sound of a chair being moved could be heard from the back of the classroom before a student spoke.

"it was my fault, mr. kang!
miki arrived late because of me"

miki lifted her gaze from the floor slowly only to be met with the boy's stern gaze as he was looking at the teacher while standing up straight.
whispering could be heard around the classroom.

"nishimura, you better sit down right now"
miki whisper-shouted at the boy through gritted teeth with her eyes wide from the boy's idiotic action.

the teacher glared at miki before averting his gaze back to the still standing boy.

"alright then.
detention for the both of you"

now it was riki's turn to be shocked.
his breath hitched as he turned his head to look at the girl who was glaring at him with a piercing gaze.

whilst their intense staring contest, the bell rang making the students swarm out of the classroom.

the two remained standing, riki keeping his gaze on the floor while miki was still glaring at the boy.

"idiot"
miki voiced out before exiting the classroom, leaving the boy to regret his stupid action.
