"Y/n, can you please go give these brownies to the new neighbours I heard they have a boy around your age too?" My mom says to me. I internally groan. I despise meeting new people, especially in such an awkward setting. And it would be even more awkward if there is a boy my age, I mean I don't do well with boys. I bitterly take the brownies from her, mumbling to myself about how she should be doing this, she's the adult after all. I resentfully make the trek from my house to the house next door, white picket fence and all. I ring the doorbell and nervously wait to see who will open it. Lets just say, I do not expect to see what I see.
"Hi, can I do something for you, princess?" The boy who's standing in the doorway says. How could anyone be this cute? Tall, eyebrow piercing, lavender hair, am I dreaming?
"I-uh... My mom wanted me to give this to you guys... you know, the whole welcome to the neighbourhood thing." I manage to get out, how? I don't know.
"Well, I'm sure my parents will appreciate it. Me? Not so much, but thanks anyways sweetheart." He says with a smirk, then takes the brownies and shuts the door in my face.
What the hell? I've never met anyone so cocky and arrogant in my life. I march back to my house muttering profanities at the boy next door.
When I finally relax a bit, I decide to read, and drink some hot chocolate. Yes, it is the middle of summer but when could you go wrong with hot chocolate? I change out of my black skinnies and flannel I'd decided to wear that day, and put on my favourite over-sized All Time Low shirt and some short gym shorts. I snuggle into my blankets and begin reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower for the hundredth time. I'm at the part when Charlie is just meeting Sam and Patrick. The all of a sudden, I hear the screeching of an electric guitar. I decide to ignore it. Before I even realize it, I've been 'ignoring' it for an hour, and I know exactly where it's coming from. I gently place my hot chocolate and book down, then I exasperatedly walk out of the house, shouting at my parents I'd be right back. It was almost twelve in the morning, was he really that inconsiderate of the people that actually wanted sleep?
When I get to his door, I ring the doorbell, and wait for the guitar to stop. Which surprisingly, within seconds, it does. The door opens to reveal the boy from earlier, except this time he's shirtless and sweaty.
"Back so soon babe?" He asks me, ugh.
"Don't call me babe. Do you mind not playing your guitar right now? I mean it sounds good and all but you're being inconsiderate." I cannot believe I just gave him the satisfaction of saying he was good. I'm suddenly aware of my attire, and I self consciously cross my arms over my chest.
"Aw hey now, don't cover up the shirt... it seems to me like you have pretty good taste in music, considering the fact that you think I'm good." He responds, leaning against the door looking down on me. Then he adds, "What's your name, princess?"
To which I respond "Y/n".
"Well, I think I like princess better. My name's Michael, but I don't really care what you call me." He says, and I glare at him
"So...Princess... want a private concert?" He says with a wink, smirking at me.
