I had traveled to a town west of the Sahara desert 1 mi from the highway my truck died leaving me alone and miles to walk I only owned a pair of flip flops and a pair of old beat up tennis shoes that had it huge hole on the top where my toes got fresh air it wasn't until I got lost and night was drifting in along with the darkest sea of sand.

I had ever seen I have ever traveled I kept for the, journey one pair of shades,
One  blue cardigan. One jacket I kept in the back of the truck even all through the winter. One sippy cup that I stole from my little brother of ice water although it was hot during the day the nights grew very chilly as if summer was late one fully charged cell phone and I have a bologna sandwich I didn't finish eating.

I place all these things including a huge chocolate candy bar in my duffle bag backpack and I started walking. it's a good thing I kept a pocket knife on the side. and it can of pepper spray I don't know what's wrong with my pickup truck it seems like hours have passed I was too tired too hot to look at my watch. but I kept walking my flip-flops had broken I threw those away.
So I place my tennis shoes on it felt comforting more than just plain comfortable.

The wind started blowing harder. I only ate a little of my half of a sandwich. before what appeared was a sandstorm approaching the wind blew and blew and blew. several hours have passed it was almost dark and still no life form of anyone or anywhere. I was completely surrounded by a seat I'm cooling down saying I thirst and I couldn't stop but after a few measly feet I sank to my knees.

The accountability was of I was lost in the worst of the Sahara desert I was so tired I laid down the wind still strong the sand so harsh I saw a light coming it was dark I was so hungry so thirsty so scared I thought for a moment I'm in a mirage I had seen them all day nope it wasn't a mirage it was real the Jeep stopped two men got out. They approach me hi what are you doing out here in the Sahara I'm lost, lost the town is this way I gather that otherwise we all would be lost. I could barely see them but I knew they were tall and broad shoulders. There's a bar about 8 MI. where were going is the other way but we'll take you back. I thought about that for a moment and I grabbed my backpack my pepper spray was still on the side if they were any terrorists or anything in that nature, I would just spray them and take the truck at least in my head that plan worked perfectly. I'm called British because of my accent and I'm Conrad we're best buds. so what will it be little lady do you want to hitch a ride back to the town ?yes I suppose so I said annoyed" that I have to leave my truck behind but relieve that I was getting out of the sand storm.

It was one thing about instincts mine kicked in like a rolling Rock.

They place me in the middle I was the smallest and the other guy to the right of me Conrad and the left of me British I held my backpack tight what do you got in that backpack you're holding mighty tight Conrad said oh just my things that saved my life.

I left everything else in my truck I was walking all day they looked at each other and laughed. All day are you serious British said. Yes I was angry but I didn't let it show all day I said again. Are you sure yes I am positive I was walking all day I just so happen to see you guys coming as I collapse from being tired and exhausted started kicking in they laughed again this time I was annoyed. What's so funny oh nothing they said and they laughed again. By this time I did not trust them so I remain quiet. What is it about men they just have to know everything why are you so quiet British Ask? I just have a lot on my mind I responded. When I get some help I have to fix my truck otherwise I probably get kicked out of my apartment by the time I make it back. 45 minutes later we pulled up to this bar and right down not even 3 ft away was my truck. what the hell I responded" what is it Conrad ask that's my truck how did my truck get here. It always been here all day. We wondered who it  belong to that's why we came looking Conrad said. Now I wasn't annoyed I was just glad they came and looked for me but I still didn't trust them ladies first Conrad pointed to the bar. It's funny how we know this things and then sometimes we don't. I went in and got myself a big tall glass or whatever they were serving it didn't matter whiskey bear soda pop I just was thirsty. There's some fried chicken would you like some of that please I said how much would that be you have to ask the little lady of the house there 575 including your drink. I reach for the Chinese zipper in the inside of my backpack and pulled out a  $50 bill. They looked at each other and then back at me. You got to be careful with that kind of money around here these folks around here don't see much people if you know what I mean .I smiled as a yes I assume I knew. I paid the lady and took my change and place the back where I got the dollar bill from the rest was my rent food and gas money and of course Lodge along the way. Brenda we will have two of  the same thing she has coming right up. You boys ought to be nice to the lady she's a paying customer Brenda said. Yes ma'am we intend to they both said. I wanted to know what that meant ,but I didn't say anything. I found the table in the back, and I sat down and I started eating shortly afterwards British and Conrad joined me. Mind if we have a seat I did but I couldn't be mean to the ones that brought me back to my truck no I don't mind at all have a seat fellas. She said and ate and talked I learned a lot about that desert I was never playing with that desert again without a full tank of gas. I know  how to fix your truck that is for a small fee we have to live you know how much is a small fee I asked 375 that was half of my lodge money but I need the truck fixed how do you know it's going to be 375 I said you don't even know what's wrong with it I can check it out for you in the morning. Where would I get lodge for tonight . a few miles down how am I going to get there we will take you somehow I didn't even want to leave this bar. It was either that or sleeping in my truck I agreed for them to take me to the hotel down the street it was only two blocks away. The sand storm will last all night he said it might pipe down in the morning we get that around here a lot I can imagine I said to myself but I didn't say anything to them I got back into the Jeep and they took me to the Sahara rest area is what they called it I checked in. one night two nights three nights are how long one night please I said I don't intend to stay any longer than that the desk clerk just looked at me she appraised me you're not from around here are you no ma'am I said well I'm Glenda it's nice to meet you Linda it'll be the upstairs room take you're right room 365 thank you. I took my keys British and Conrad followed there you go on the right he pointed thanks I said they waited outside for me to say come in where do you boys live they said before entering my door downstairs so you guys live here yep  British said with his British accent
Conrad said we've been here for a year it just seems fitting this kind of town you know what we mean yeah I gathered lonely desert like roadkill yeah you got the drift Conrad said. Aren't you going to invite us in you stay downstairs but aren't you going to be friendly we were friendly with you. I suppose so come on in. They walk behind me really slow surprisingly the place was lovely. I thought to myself no wonder they stayed for a year the prices like that and the way it looks inside a plus for the Sahara rest area. I said that on the couch that was in there it was as if it was a living room the bed area in the bath it also had a kitchenette where you could cook .it was quite a nice place I repeated under my breath Conrad answered me yes it is
And Linda she's very nice she's very clean she brings us our  supper every night except for tonight we were with you at the bar. Yes you were. British motion well we have to go we have to get up bright and early in the morning to fix your truck thanks for your hospitality Conrad said no problem thank you but what I've done without you two. Yeah they laughed again I'm glad I've gotten used to their weird bedside manner. They left and I quickly locked my door and even put the bolt lock and the extra chain on it. I didn't have my nightgown with me I wouldn't take a chance going back out to get it. So I just slept naked afterI took  took a nice hot shower.
