Tonight is Audrey's birthday, and instead of having an extravagant party, I'm going to her house for pizza and burgers. Not that there's anything wrong with pizza, don't get me wrong, pizza is amazing, but this is what happens when you're a university student and on a budget. But to be honest, I'd rather have this over than going clubbing or something like that. As far as I'm aware, the only people that will be there are myself, her, and her boyfriend Sam. I decide to just wear some black skinnies and plain black shirt, I mean, nothing can go wrong with black, right? The apartment her and Sam share is just down the street from mine, so I just go right over.
Before I can even knock, the door is opened to reveal a smiling Audrey. "Happy Birthday!" I shout, hugging her tightly. Even though we live around the corner from each other, I still tackle her every time I see her.
"Thanks y/n!" She says giggling, then adds, "I wanna see the cake!", causing me to laugh, I knew she would. Audrey opens the door wider, allowing me to come inside. When I enter, I wonder where Sam is, and it's as if she can read my mind.
"Sam's in the kitchen", she says, leading the way. When I enter the kitchen I was only expecting to see Sam, but I don't. There's another guy sitting at the table with him, already eating a burger, beer in hand. I look over at Audrey, and she is sheepishly looking at the floor.
"Hey Sam." I say, setting the cake down.
"y/n! How've you been?" He says, standing up to greet me.
"I'm good, you?" I reply, skeptically looking at him, waiting for him to introduce me to his random guy he seems comfortable around.
"I'm great. By the way, this is my brother, Dean." He says, nudging the guy who I now know is Dean. Dean quickly drops his burger and wipes his mouth.
"Sorry." He says with a smirk, "I was hoping Sam would have given me a more impressive introduction. With this, I notice Sam glaring at him and Lauren coughs to break the silence.
"How about we have some cake?" She says, grabbing a knife from the counter. I think it's a collective agreement that this is a good idea, so she opens up the box.
"You didn't!" She squeals, her eyes lighting up.
"I did. Hey we planned it, I'm gonna follow through. Just know I'm expecting the same thing in five months when it's my birthday." I tell her with a smile.
"What's so good about the cake?" Dean says, unimpressed. That is, until he sees it. It had the Blink-182 logo, with the lyric "Nobody like you when you're 23" written on it. Audrey and I had planned to do this for each others 23rd birthdays when we were young, and I was proud of myself for doing it.
"Damn." Dean mutters under his breath. "You guys like Blink?", he asks, raising an eyebrow. Audrey and I look at each other and nod.
"Well, good job Sammy." He says, patting Sam on the back, and Sam smiles and looks down at Audrey.
"While, let's dig in", she says, cutting the cake. An hour and a half later, we're all sitting around the table smiling and laughing, and I'm surprisingly, talking to Dean.
"Are you serious? There is no way AC/DC is better than Nirvana." I scoff.
"You're kidding. AC/DC is classing rock!" Dean replies.
"Well, I guess I'm just into grunge rock. But AC/DC is still amazing, so no hate." I tell him, attempting to add a wink.
"Hey Sam? Would it be weird if I asked your girlfriends best friend on date?"
