─── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───I stood looking down at the steaming mug on the kitchen bench. I continued to watch the small black leaves swirl in the liquid. In the background, Isaac and Derek were bickering, since Isaac couldn't remember what exactly happened to him, Derek proposed an idea. It was risky, but I have no say in this. I rested the silver teaspoon beside the cup, as I watched the tea leaves sink to the bottom mug which I held in my palms. The same high-pitched buzz rang, but this time it felt different. The noise didn't give me a headache, instead, everything fell into silence. I could hear the faint beating of my own heart, and the small exhale I let out. I felt a sensation rush down my spine, escaping through my fingertips. The earl grey tea began to tremor, the leaves rested at the bottom of the cup in a circular shape. I furrowed my eyebrows thinking that my eyes were playing tricks on me, instantly flashes of the past began playing in my head.
I watched as I carefully brought over a teacup, to her armchair which was warmed by the fireplace. "Thank you, darling," I remembered that feeling I longed for, importance, acceptance, appreciation. I smiled at her, believing that I found my family, "It's okay, do you need anything else?" I sat at the foot of the armchair, hugging my knees. She turned and faced my direction.
"You should head home, before your father begins to worry." She replied sweetly, rubbing her thumb over the back of my hand. My breathing grew heavier, as I watched myself begin to fall for her deception and lies. I felt my anger evolve. She promised me love, family, friends...a normal life. But the cost for it all wasn't worth a single penny.
"Colette?" I let out a sharp exhale, looking up from the cup. I steadied my breathing, turning around, facing a very terrified Isaac, and an unamused Derek. "Do you think it's a good idea?" He questioned, continuing to pace back and forth.
"If Derek says it's okay, then it's okay. You have nothing to worry about." I replied softly, carrying my tea and sitting beside Derek. Isaac looked at me, his eyes pleading for a different response."You know what? I definitely don't like this idea and I definitely don't like him." Isaac argued, standing still behind a chair.
"Nobody likes him." Derek agreed, his eyes glued to the book in his grasp. I exchanged glances between both of the boys.
"I like him." I spoke up before taking a sip of the tea. They both shot me a look in unison. The metal door, pushed open. The loud squeaking noise of the door causing the three of us to take a glimpse at the individual walking in. "Boys...and Colette." Peter smiled, greeting us as he walked in.
"Yes coming back from the dead- has left my abilities somewhat impaired...but the hearing still works. So I hope you're comfortable saying whatever it is that you are feeling straight to my face." He smirked, approaching us. Derek slammed his book shut, staring at Peter unbothered.
"We don't like you. Now shut up and help us." He responded instantly whilst standing up, this made me spit out my tea. I stood up rushing over to the sink, I poured out the remainder of the tea, but some residue was left at the bottom. I was about to rinse the mug when the circular symbol remained at the bottom. I almost dropped the mug in the sink, but chose to ignore my paranoia. We all circled Isaac, Peter extracting his claws, making his way over to where he sat. I watched as Peter measured Isaac's neck. One wrong move and he could paralyse Isaac...or worse kill him. "Yo-you know what you're doing right?" Isaac stuttered, his knee violently shaking.
"Well I've never paralysed anyone." Peter mumbled, I glared at him from where I stood. Before Isaac could say something, Peter punctured his neck, Isaac leaned back grabbing Peter's arms in pain, his eyes glowing gold. Peter went into some sort of trance as his eye's turned into a blue illuminance. I dropped my crossed arms, as I made my way to the two. Derek held out his arm stopping me from interfering, "Wa-wait I see them." Peter announced, as he escaped and went back into the trance repeatedly. In less than a minute, Peter leaped backwards, crashing into the table and Isaac fell forward. I caught him before he fell off the chair, "You good dude?" I asked laughing nervously. He reached to feel the back of his neck, before studying me inquisitively. My smile faltered, as he pushed my hands off his knees. I gulped as he moved his body away from me. "You saw something?" Derek questioned, making his way to Peter.
"It was confusing, but he found them. Erica and Boyd, but someone else was there too." Peter turned and faced us, holding his fist.
