Third Person's P. O. V:Sesshomaru returns to his group the following morning while they were resting from travelling, as it's been a whole day. He finds that a certain black haired girl is absent.
"Where is Sakura?" Sesshomaru asks Shinobu and Jaken.
"Oh, née-chan's just around. She said she wanted to be alone for a little while," Explains Shinobu. "I think she's still trying to process what happened in our castle." Sesshomaru nods his head.
Shinobu takes out some food from his bag he's packed for their journey.
Sesshomaru sits against a tree and waits for Sakura to return so they can continue travelling for another hour or two.
🗡🗡🗡
Sakura sits in the branches of a cherry blossom tree, her left leg dangling down the side as she gazes into te distance. It's been two weeks but the wounds from not just Akio's sword but also her parents' deaths are still fresh.
It had happened so suddenly. She was riding out with her brother and when they came back, the castle was invaded and her parents were cut down before her very eyes. Even her strong mother, known for her swordsmanship in the country.
Sakura closes her eyes as tears leak through them.
She doesn't think she'll ever move past the pain.
Sakura remains in the tree until a voice calls to her.
"Sakura, we're leaving." She looks down to find Sesshomaru beneath the tree. He studies the tears staining her face. Sakura wipes them away and leaps down from the branch. "Why have you been crying?"
"I was just thinking about what happened back home," She replies. "I... I don't think I'll ever heal from the pain of losing my parents."
They were unaware of Jaken and Shinobu watching from behind trees nearby as Sesshomaru closes the distance between him and the ravenette. He raises his right arm and gently wipes the tears away. A soft breeze tosses their long hair
"You will. I know because you're a strong person, Sakura," He tells her, making her heart thud in her chest. Sesshomaru grips Sakura's chin and makes her look at him. "Smiling suits you better." She blushes at the words. Sesshomaru turns around to leave. "Let's go."
Sakura moves to follow but was unaware of the slightly large rock in her way. Her foot catches roughly on the rock and she lets out a startled gasp as she begins to fall. Her eyes widen.
"Oh, no!" Sakura thinks when she fails to stop herself in time. Sakura braces herself for the impact of hiring the ground as she closes her eyes tightly. However, the impact never came. Confused, she blinks her eyes open and finds an arm wrapped securely around her waist. Sakura lifts her head only to stare in surprise at Sesshomaru. He gazes back at her with a look hinting at concern.
Sesshomaru helps Sakura to stand and she says appreciatively, "Thank you."
"You need to be more careful," He tells her. She nods her head and they catch up with Jaken and Shinobu as they leave. Shinobu hands Sakura an apple to eat which she chews as they walk. Sakura and Shinobu lead their horses as Karina rides on Miyu's head.
When she finishes, Shinobu asks her, "Nee-chan, can you sing something?"
She smiles at him as she says, "Of course. Can you sing with me?"
"Yeah!" Shinobu agrees. He loves singing with his sister and their mother. Sakura takes out the shamisen with cherry blossoms printed on the sides on her back and starts to strum a certain tune. It just three strings string along it. Sesshomaru only peers back at her as he walks a few paces ahead, curious about the Princess's singing.
