Chapter 48

Hux sat on a bench that was in the cafeteria watching as the first alliance helped the remaining children. Ben had started to play a short game of tag with the little boy he had brought inside. Hux sighed as he played around with his fingers thinking about all that had happened.

Phasma sit down beside him. "Are you alright?" she asked.

"I don't really know. After Ben found out that I was his cousin it felt like my life was finally starting to get better. But now I'm afraid I will lose what happiness I have found," Hux sighed putting his head in his hands. Phasma gently started to rub his back trying to comfort him.

He looked back up at her and into her eyes. "But what I am more afraid of is that I'll lose Ben and Rey forever."

Phasma grabbed his hand holding it tightly "Hux I don't know much about love, but what little I do know is that with love comes the fear of losing that love and thats okay. It's okay to love something so much that you fear losing it... and I'm sure that Ben and Rey can handle themselves."

Hux's face fell as he remembered his the dream the three of them had shared. Hux turned to look back at Ben who was still playing with the small boy. "Protect himself huh?" Hux thought, "well watch this." grabbing one of Bens legs with the force and pulling it out from under him.

Ben tripped and fell to floor. "What in the...?" He looked around trying to figure out what had tripped him. It felt like the force, but he must have been mistaken. Why would someone use the force to trip him?

Hux winched in pain at the hard hit Ben had taken. A week ago he would have been laughing at Ben's misfortune but now in this moment he felt really bad about tripping him.

"Sorry Ben," he said jogging over so he could help him up.

"You tripped me?" Ben asked.

Hux smile awkwardly before he nodded in reply.

"Why?" Ben asked. Confused and a little angry, (but not too much for him)

"I uh... wanted to see if you were paying attention to your... uh surroundings" Hux said trying to pull himself back into the cool collective general he used to be.

"So you decided to use the force to trip me while I was playing tag with a bunch of kids?" Ben asked in a sarcastic tone, which he had inherited from both of his parents.

"Well yeah" Hux said feeding off of Ben's tone.

"Just you wait, I'll get you back for this when you least expect it," Ben replied.

Hux shuttered at the thought Ben was far more advanced with the force the he was or probably ever would be. "Why did I test him myself?" Hux thought before he tried putting on a smug face "We'll see."

"Yes we will see," Ben said smiling as a perfect comeback came to his mind.

Hux's heart started to pound in his chest. For a moment he thought about reading Ben's thoughts so he could know what Ben was planing but at the same time he didn't know if he wanted to know.

Ben turned away so that Hux could worry about what he was going to do for a little while, then once he had forgotten he would execute his master plan. He went back over to where the children were playing to continue the game with them. He wanted to keep their minds off of the events of the day as much as possible.

Phasma walked up to Hux bumping his shoulder light which almost gave him a heart attack before he realized it was her.

"What was that about?" she asked.

Hux looked off at Ben sadly. "I told you he wasn't ready."
