"Mumma?" Fred asked the following morning, his blue eyes sparkling, he and George wanted to hear their morning story, but it seemed their mother was a little lost in her thoughts, happiness radiating off her.
"Yes sweetie?" She responded turning to her eldest son, that was never fun, Imogen had warned her husband last night to never call Fred the eldest in front of George, it made him sad.
"Will you tell us our morning story?" George queered, catching their father's attention. Imogen smiled gently as she placed their food on the table, Atticus and Elijah sitting in front of the twins.
Humming softly Imogen sat at the other end of the table, thinking over what to tell. "What story do you wish to hear, Mischief and Mayhem?" Imogen asked the boys. "Do you wish to hear the tale of Merlin and Arthur, or do you wish for the tale of the chosen one?" She asked.
"The Chosen One! It's our favourite!" The two giggled loudly, excited to hear the story of the young witch who fought the craziest of men, from eleven to seventeen. "Can we hear about when they were thirteen, the twins are our favourites?" They asked her with glowing eyes.
Smirking, Imogen motioned for the boys to begin eating. "It was a normal day for the Chosen One, as normal as it was living with her muggle family." Imogen started as the boys ate but watched their mother with rapid attention. Tommy was surprised to see even Atticus and Elijah listening to the story, but he wasn't surprised his wife's imagination was captivating, he had a feeling it had something to do with her magic. Shaking his head he leaned back, finishing his own breakfast to listen to his wife as she now told them of a map that showed where everybody was.
Later in the day, Mimi had taken the twins with Elijah to a magical park, the boys needing some outside time, Tommy and Imogen had gone to the betting den, Tommy needing to see how things were. And Atticus, well Atticus had gone off on an adventure with Newt, the young boy having a great fascination with magical creatures.
As the pair walked down the street, Tommy had refused to let Imogen's hand go, he wanted her close to him, right be his side, after all the people of Small Heath could use this to their advantage, using Imogen as his greatest weakness. He was just thankful that no one knew that she had been pregnant, he didn't know what would have happened to her if someone that hated his family tried to hurt his boys, or even Imogen.
"Tommy?" Imogen called seeing her husband lost in thought.
Tommy looked down at his wife, her glowing emerald eyes looking at him with concern. He smiled, "I'm fine, my Lily." He whispered. She raised an eyebrow at her husband and waited for him to start talking, seeing the look in her eyes Tommy chuckled softly. "I was thinking that what if something happened to you, I would lose my mind if anything happened to you Imogen, you or our boys," he said to her.
Imogen smiled gently as she rested her palm on his cheek. "Then the world would burn, because neither you or I would allow for anyone to hurt us," Imogen stated with a smirk now resting on her face. "Now come on, we have work to be done," she said, spinning on her heel and beginning to walk away from Tommy.
Shaking his head, he followed after his wife the two now joined hand in hand again. When they stepped into the betting room Imogen left to talk with Ada, the young girl grinning at the sight of her sister-in-law, Ada had looked up to Imogen for years now, of course she looked up to her Aunt Polly as well, but there was just something about Imogen that drew Ada in. Imogen was like a shinning light on Ada's darkness, she listened to her when she needed to vent, Imogen gave her pointers in her studies.
"What did you need help with?" Imogen asked her, as Tommy walked into the meeting room. He tried to keep her out of whatever they were doing as much as possible, even before the war he made sure she was far away from their problems, Lucian was an exception though, he knew what they were doing before they did.
Ada rushed to her book and brought it over, Ada was to the shock of their family working to become a certified nurse, one that would be working with Imogen, she was studying so hard that sometimes she became a little forgetful but Imogen, Imogen was brilliant once again. Her eidetic memory was so helpful to the young woman. She wanted to be certified to help around the shop and feel less like she wasn't doing anything important in her life.
Imogen had been the biggest support in the world. "I forgot how to do this again." Ada muttered sheepishly.
Imogen smiled as the two begun discussing it once more, Ada was now learning about certain medicines and their properties, including the benefit of different herbs. "Now Chamomile is used for?" Imogen asked the young woman.
"It is used for wound healing and to reduce inflammation or swelling." Ada responded. "Chamomile is used as a tea or applied as a compress. It also may increase drowsiness." She finished.
"Correct!" Imogen cheered as the two then began to work more. They were so focused on the work that they didn't notice the rest of the family walk out of the meeting. They watched happily as Ada answered every question correctly, then one got them a little worried. "What about Hemlock?"
"Hemlock is a dangerous plant that grows throughout the United States. The hemlock plant has white flowers that grow in clusters, and the stem has purple spots. This plant can grow up to 9 feet tall. It was initially brought over from Europe as a garden plant. Hemlock typically grows in the spring, but in some locations it can grow as year-round." Ada responded. "Symptoms of hemlock poisoning can appear anywhere between 30 minutes to hours after ingesting the plant. The severity of your symptoms greatly depends on how much of the plant is in your system and the toxicity of the plant at its time of growth."
"Can you list the symptoms?" Imogen asked her.
"Symptoms of Hemlock are trembling, burning in the digestive tract, increased salivation, dilated pupils, muscle pain, muscle weakness or muscle paralysis, rapid heart rate followed by a decreased heart rate, loss of speech, convulsions, and or unconsciousness or coma." Ada stated.
Arthur and John turned to each other in fear. "Okay Imogen I think it is time you went home now." Arthur said to his sister-in-law.
Imogen and Ada looked over at the family, but both nodded. "Keep working hard and you'll be working for me in no time." Imogen giggled. Ada nodded and hugged Imogen, before Tommy took Imogen's hand and walked out of the house and back to their own. Ready to spoil their family.
