"Why don't you just come out and stop with your hiding?!" Yuno shouted angrily after she had noticed that the person which was hiding behind the trees hadn't moved in a while, watching her in silence instead. "Former Vice-Captain Langris!" the woman hissed since she already knew that the huge amount of mana belonged to her."Sheesh...you don't need to add 'former'..." a small shadow emerged from between the trees, slowly approaching her. "But I'm glad you still remember me, Yuno-Chan." she said- a cocky smile, a snarky tune in her voice, and a 'did ya miss me?' painted all over her face.
Yuno sighed when the woman she hadn't seen in over six months stopped inches from her, arms crossed.
"As always, you speak such....unpleasant things", she said, faking a frown while tilting her head like a puppy.
"At least I'm not as horrible as you..." Yuno replied, still panting heavily.
Langris' eyes darted to the stone wall next to her which was painted with some large, gaping holes, before her attention drifted back to Yuno who was still trying to catch her breath, face puffy red and covered in sweat.
"Where is your little fairy?" she asked instead, deciding to ignore Yuno's insult.
"Bell?" Yuno coughed. "In my Grimoire, gathering mana..."
Her face darkened out of a sudden.
"So what do you want?"
"I really would wish you would stop being so judgemental..." Langris sighed, shaking her head. "Here I am, offering my help as a spatial mage and you immediately jump at my throat..." she shrugged.
"Guess I should leave now..." the woman turned around, leaving Yuno standing there, dumbfounded.
"WAIT!" she screamed, stopping Langris right in her tracks, a wide smirk appearing on her pink lips.
"Yeah?" she said, turning around again.
"If I could, I would send you to hell but..." She shook her head, looking down at her brown leather boots for a second. "...this is not about me but the Golden Dawn! So please!" Yuno bowed down a little. "Help me to defeat Zenon and bring back our Captain!"
Langris was surprised to see that Yuno bowed her head for her.
"Alright then," she said, gifting her with an honest smile.
Yuno's head moved back up, she was shocked to see Langris smiling like this. 'Have I ever seen her smile for real?' she thought, glad that her face was bright red anyway.
Yuno gulped, her throat felt very dry out of a sudden.
"I hope you got stronger at least!" she blurted out without thinking, seeing the smile on Langris's face disappear immediately.
"Snarky..." She frowned.
-Several hours later-
The day had passed by faster than Yuno wanted it to.
She was letting it pass through her head after the two had retired to the small place hidden in the woods Yuno had declared as her camp when she arrived days ago.
Yuno was the only one still sitting there - Langris had fallen asleep about an hour ago.
She stared into the flickering flame and sighed.
'I'm so stupid...why did I say all these things...' she thought, her head in her hands.
For Yuno, it was hard to admit that she was more than just happy to see Langris again, but her thoughts were racing;
More than six months have passed since Langris had challenged Yuno to a duel, something she probably won't forget since it was so unexpected in the first place.
She already felt that the whole thing with the elves must have had a deep impact on the other mage as she had stopped going on missions, barely interacting with the rest of the squad while always coming up with excuses for herself.
She had no idea their fight would end up with Langris leaving the Dawn.
She had no idea that Langris was looking for an excuse to justify her leaving.
But deep down, she had a feeling - a certain intuition that Langris might do something incredibly stupid instead of coming clean.
Langris already had made her choice, a choice which broke Yuno's heart a bit more than just a little - as she was in shambles to watch her leave.
The following days had been hard for her and she never really got used to the feeling of not having Langris around, not seeing her fox-red head sneaking into the kitchen on the hunt for leftover cherry tarts, or hearing her voice when Yuno just turned around a corner and saw her laughing together with other members of the Dawn.
Finally hearing her sharp voice again after such a long time had let her heart bounce in happiness- to her, it didn't matter that Langris immediately insulted her again, she was used to it anyway. Liking Langris was hard and she couldn't recall a single time when the woman was nice to her on purpose but she didn't mind anyway.
Absently, Yuno returned from her thoughts about the day Langris had left her and turned her head to Langris who was lying right next to her, curled up like a little kitten, wrapped in her turquoise robe which was lifting itself in sync with her breathing.
'I wonder if she's dreaming...' Yuno thought, catching herself staring at the back of the woman's hazelnut-colored head, the orangey flames of the fire were lightening up the red touch of Langris's hair.
Yuno turned her head back to the fire and bit her lips. It probably would be for the best if she could just forget about her feelings because she was very certain that Langris didn't care for her at all.
'...But it would be nice if she did....'
Yuno let herself fall into the grass, now looking at the dark blue sky, staring at the stars while listening to Langris's soft breaths.
-The next morning-
Yuno was woken up by the sound of birds chirping.
The sound of something sizzling mixed itself with the bird's song, so she opened her eyes, the sky above her head was now painted baby blue and filled with lots of white fluffy clouds.
"Oh, you're finally awake?" Langris asked, noticing that the other woman had sat up.
"...yea..." Yuno mumbled. She wasn't sure if she really had found some sleep, after all, rubbing her eyes with a yawn.
"Sheesh, I didn't think it was possible for your hair to look even messier..." Langris suddenly said with a laugh, while Yuno suddenly noticed that the woman was staring at her.
She didn't know why but her blood began to boil- for some reason, Langris's snarky comment went directly under her skin.
"WOULD YOU SHUT UP?!" Yuno screamed furiously and grabbed the spare cloak she had used as a pillow last night from the ground, throwing it into the woman's face as hard as she could and knocking her straight into the grass.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Langris screamed, still on the ground, pressing her hands against her nose since the buckle of Yunos cloak had hit it hard enough for it to start bleeding heavily but Yuno already jumped up and was now on top of the woman.
"HOW CAN YOU BE SO ANNOYING IN THE EARLY MORNING?!" Yuno yelled while she kept hitting Langris with her cloak.
"WHAT-OW-IS-OWW-YOUR-OW-FUCK-OW-ING-PROB-OWW-LEM?!" Langris shouted, grabbing the cloak from her in a desperate attempt to stop the woman from hitting her again. Yuno stared at the confused woman whose face was now sprinkled with blood from her nose, looking at her with furious, but scared turquoise eyes before she realised that she was sitting on top of Langris.
"I...I..." Yuno muttered, still staring into Langris's eyes.
"YOU'RE SUCH AN IDIOT!" she yelled, jumping up and dashing off into the woods, leaving a very confused Langris laying on the ground.
"What the...hell..." she silently whispered.
