━────System 004 sat in front of his light screen. A blank expression could be seen on his face as he watched his own light screen flash in a different color, like a rainbow that unscientifically appeared too early and got mixed up with the cloudy storm.
"It exploded." System 004 mumbled.
The domain of souls is a place where countless systems live, created by the main system who oversee countless other worlds.
In the vast universe, countless worlds are scattered. Every single one is graded and assessed based on the unique energy that can be found inside these worlds.
The energy is called "Ethereal Energy", a type of energy that fills in the whole universe that countless worlds would absorb in order to continue existing.
On the other hand, the domain of souls is called "Boundless City". Although it is called a City, it is in fact, a whole united nation filled with life-forms created by the main system, called stem-systems.
Life-forms are tasked to handle countless worlds. Some systems are tasked to make sure a certain soul will follow its fate, some need to assess the world itself while some are bound to fix issues that existed from time to time.
Of course, there's also a type of system who are tasked to punish souls that doesn't follow their fate.
System 004 is exactly this kind of system. His other name is 'Main-Villain System' and was given the name Z by his peers. He's an excellent system who never fails at his job.
Until now...
He had just entered an A-Class world when he saw his target, the one who was supposed to become the Main-Villain of the world, directly shooting the Protagonist dead. Just like that, without any pause nor break, System 004 was pulled out of the world with his mission declared as a failure.
At that moment, System 004 doesn't know what to feel. He hasn't even entered the world for a full ten seconds yet he's already back at his own personal space, facing his light screen that has the bold scarlet character that says "Mission Failed". After that, the light screen showed that the world exploded into tiny glitters before disappearing out of the light screen, leaving only the chaotic colors to flash in front of his eyes.
System 004 who's always so composed and calm let out a sigh and leaned his back against his seat. "What's going on here?"
That was his first time encountering a situation where the Villain actually succeeded in killing the protagonist. Every single system knows that the Protagonist cannot be controlled nor ordered, because every Protagonist in the world has an ethereal shard in their body. They can only be monitored by the system assigned to them.
