It was the first day of summer, Molly (5), John (10), and Tessa (15) were all planning on having a fun school and work-free break. It was June 16 the day after the last day of school and they were putting their school bags and books away when all of a sudden Tessa had an idea.
"Guys, listen! I have an amazing idea! We should all go swimming every day of this whole summer! All 56 days of no school!"
"What a great idea Tess!" said John, "we really need to get our feet wet, am I right," he said as he laughed at his own joke while no one else thought it was funny.
"Let's text Aunt Joe and see if we can come over!" said Molly.
It was Thursday afternoon and as hot as they could imagine. The AC was cranked and the fans blowing on high. They did not want to do anything so all three kids were on their iPhones doing whatever kids do on their phones. When their mom walked in with big news.
"So as you know I have been dating Micheal for a while now and well we are in love and guess what!"
"What mom?" said John with much excitement! "What is it? I need something good I am so bored out of my mind!"
"Well, he asked me to marry him and I said yes!"
"What the Fuck mom!" screamed Tessa, "we don't even know him that well, and well you never seem to talk about him!"
"Well honey, that's what I told him but he said he already thought of that, and that's when he showed me a trip he planned to take you guys on without me. It's to Sunshine Falls!"
"WOW! Said Molly, I can't wait I love water and I love heights! I'm gonna post so many pics on my insta story that I know ill reach a million followers!!"
"Well as for me," replied Tessa, "I am not going, I am not going to waste my whole school vacation to go on a shitty vacation with someone I don't even really know. I will stay here and hang with my friends."
Tessa and her mother talked about the trip for the next few hours. In the end, Tessa agreed to go to Sunshine falls because her mom said she would get a new phone. As the weeks wore on the three siblings almost forgot about their trip to sunshine falls. They were busy with their summer rompings, swimming, birthday parties, and social media.
Soon the day for the children to leave came and they were getting in Michaels's car.
"Thanks for taking us, "said John, "this is going to be the best. I know I will get a lot more followers on Instagram and tik tok!"
"You are most welcome! "Replied Micheal, "I can't wait for all of us to bond before your mother and I get married and I become your stepfather."
"That is the last thing I want right now!" said Tessa harshly, "I just want to go live with dad and have a better life than my mom to marry again!"
"WAAAA" cried Molly, "I want daddy!"
Oh Molly I'm sorry," said Tessa, "I should not have mentioned dad."
Soon all the children were settled in the car and they were on their way to Sunshine falls five hours away.
